In my opinion yes. It makes a person only care about the money instead of the job itself. Technically, people only care about the salary, but sometimes we have to pretend we actually like our jobs.

Most companies have a policy about not discussing compensation so keep letting the new person shoot themselves in the foot.
I think it’s always in bad taste to discuss money.
