In the trilogy, a 12 year old girl, Lyra starts out on a journey to find answers after her friend is kidnapped. She travels to a parallel universe where everyone's soul is manifested in an animation or altar-ego in animal form. These are called "daemon".

In the story, a malicious governing body called, "the church" (which is renamed, the Magisterium for the purpose of the movie) is known to kidnap kids for the purpose of experimentation. Lyra finds help in The Golden Compass which reveals a coded answer to any question which she asks it. At the end of the trilogy, Lyra gets to the bottom of the mystery of the missing children and finally, she and some others rebel and kill a character called, "God", specifically YAHWEH.

The first issue that Christians are struggling with is that the "villan" in the story is the church and God- YAHWEH. For those of you who know your Bible, YAHWEH is the abbreviated version of the name that Moses wrote down when God told him His name. This seems

2 of my good friends from high school are getting married, six years after high school graduation. We were very good friends (in a tight group of about 8 people) during high school. We all hung out frequently during college breaks but I haven't kept in touch much in the past 2 years.

Now they are getting married and pretty much all of our friends other than me got invited - granted, they've kept in better touch with most of the other friends. They do have my contact info because we're friends on facebook. I even posted congratulatory notes on their walls as soon as they got engaged nine months ago.

But no wedding invitation. Is this a snub? I haven't done anything to make them mad at me, as far as I know. Or should I just accept that there's a limited number of invites to a wedding and they just don't value my friendship at much as the other friends?

i need someone to photoshop my image for me. i need the stamp background to be WHITE not the grayish color it is. ive worked like heck to try to fix it but i dont really know how. can someone do it for me? and i need the blue on the stamp to be a LITTLE bit darker.

Okay, so we have freedom of religion. Then why are they banning prayer out loud in school, Christmas decorations in public places, any mention of religion in some places? Why do people get offended that some of us ARE Christians and we DO celebrate Christmas? I'm not offended when I see people with Hannukah decorations, or when people with different religions talk about them. This country was partially built on Christianity.
Can someone who is actually offended by any hints that there is Christian people out there EXPLAIN why you are this way?

Recently, I when I was logged on, my mouse stopped working. Thinking nothing of it (I have a wireless keyboard/mouse), I unplugged the receiver, and tried to re-connect the keyboard/mouse. However, I still couldn't move the mouse/keyboard. So I tried a corded keyboard/mouse (using PS2) and it still wouldn't work. I've tried rebooting, and it still wont work (I'm using a different computer right now). However, I know that the keyboard/mouse/hardware isn't defective because I was able to boot onto Ubuntu (Linux) via a live CD, and everything worked just fine (keyboard/mouse). Regardless, I still can't get into Vista...I get stuck at the log-on screen (I've got a password, and safe mode doesn't work). My only method of input is a media center remote (plugs into USB ... but that only 'types' numbers (which do, however, appear). I've got absolutely no idea what to do.
