I need some unschooling success stories. My mom is convinced that if I unschool I'll end up at a *gasp* community college. (I'm not going to college. Maybe art school, though...) Anyone wanna prove her wrong?

I believe in marriage and family although my husband had an affair for 2 1/2 years. They lived together and it was just sexual...no emotional attachment from him. He let her into our home once when I wasn't there. I know he lies because he denies stuff that she says when she's not around, but doesn't deny it in front of her.

We have a 21 year history together and I believe in "for better or for worse". I believe we can get past this and our relationship will be stronger because of it.

The only question is, can we truly forgive and forget? I told him that I will do it and will forgive EVERYTHING he did to save our marriage. Has anyone else done this? He said he will do anything to make it work. He moved home last night and will not talk to the other woman again.

I was speaking with a friend of mine earlier on the phone, she was really upset and crying and stuff. She said that her boyfriend had just beaten her up and that she can't take it anymore. I'm in shock as I never realised and feel SO guilty about this she said it's been happening for a while.

I don't usually get involved with people's business as I prefer to lead a quiet life but I can't stand by knowing such a wonderful person is going through this. It pains me that she's having to suffer in silence I said to her why she had not told anybody she said she was afraid no one would believe her.

She's asked if she can come over and stay at my house tonight, I've only met her boyfriend once she's never really mentioned him, so I don't really know what to say. Do you think I should get involved or merely point her in the right direction? she's such a beautiful person and does not deserve this.

Thank you for your help.
I've yet to call her back as I write this.

Jehovah's Witnesses abhor suicide, viewing it as a sin. If you commit suicide they will not give you a funeral service in their church/Kingdom Hall because they feel that would be highly improper. I know this because when I was a JW I saw what happened when a fellow JW killed herself.
Yet if you kill yourself by refusing a blood transfusion, you are seen as a martyr. They pray about you, they put pictures of you in their magazines.
And if you want to know why I'm angry, its because I can still remember the faces of the little children in the magazines - the little children whose parents had refused to allow them blood transfusions. I was told that these little children 'made Jehovah proud' and he loved them for dying to keep his commandments.
Where's the logic in this?

I'm trying to convince my buddy/roomate to take taxis when we go out drinking. However, he's a cheap dude and would rather drive drunk than pay the $15 cab fare from our house to downtown where the bars are. So, I'm trying to make the argument that it's cheaper to pay the cab fare than get a DUI.

Anybody know what the average DUI costs in Denver? Also, what other costs are there (i.e. attorneys, classes, etc)?

so i recently had blood tests done and apparently I have a somewhat elevated level of liver enzymes.. but I dont know what this means? my doctor didn't say cuz he just told me over the phone

i tried looking online but i couldn't outright find anything that explained what this means.. also im 18 yrs old and like..otherwise healthy

i exercise occasionally, dont smoke, am a healthy weight(actually lower end).. i do occasionally drink but probably less than the average 18 yr old.

any dr's out there lol?

I was filling out an adoption application for a dog I was interested in adopting.
The application asks these two questions : How much is your yearly income? and what education do you have (high schoool,college etc)

I am currently 30, single with about 100K in savings/investments, no debt, no other assets. I currently make around 100k+/year with bonus, but I detest my job and would much rather start a modest business or switch to a career that would allow me more spare time. I enjoy all foods, from the ethnic to the experimental. However, I want a book that has some good everyday type recipes that taste great without cheating with excessive butter and so forth. Also, being a student, I can't afford to shop at the local Whole Foods everyday (once in a while is of course OK), so it would be even nicer if the ingredients aren't too hard to find / expensive.. unless it's worth it (I don't mind shopping at ethnic markets.. I'm in the Austin area if that helps.) I'm just a meat eating bundle of contradiction, aren't I! Maybe I should simply ask the question, "What veggie cookbook would you recommend to friends?"

I need to do them for Mu Alpha Theta, and its not cheating cuz it says I can use any resource (see for yourself) that includes internet and other ppl!. I'm a freshman and let me tell ya, if I try these I will be going in way over my head. Computer programs help, especially for the last questions that aren't really questions, don't ask me which ones! I have no idea...I got a few answers though.
