This question is almost a debate I realise that. It will not in all likelihood change any minds, but may influence the minds of those who are currently suffering cognitive dissonance regarding the conflicts between Evolutionary theory and Creationist theory.

The crux of the argument to me seems to be whether 'faith' trumps 'reason' or vice versa. http://www.fstdt.com illustrated to me the gulf between those who accept the holy book of any religion as a tool for truth and those who accept scientific principle as a tool for truth.

The quote I read saying 'You honestly believe the world was created over millions of years and not six days?' just summed up the seemingly unassailable wall between the two world views, obviously the opposite could just as sincerely be said as an argument against creationism.

So, how do you KNOW which trumps which, Faith or Reason? How can we know the answer to this question? Are faith and reason totally, mutually, incompatible?
Yours hopefully,
Yuk

in measuring of atmospheric pressure of a specific station , it seems "QFE" parameter as actual pressure is enough. Why we need "QNH" as reduced to standard condition or "QFF"as reduced to sea altitude is necessary? it seems they are not useful or practicable information. what is meant if e.g. "QNH" is other than 1013 hpa(milibar)?

Back in my college days, my senior year we took a road trip to New Orleans. We were just catching all the coins from the floats at Marti Gras. We were around the French Quarter when a couple on the street were telling people about Jesus. I thought they were weird. They were mainly talking to my roommates. Then the wife asked me the accept Jesus. I told her I was a very nice person. But she said all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. I thought she was nice so I said something like Jesus forgive me. I told her she was doing a great job. When I got back to school, somebody sits right next to me in the cafeteria and tells me Jesus was the only Son of God. I was wondering about all this so that night I said a prayer like this. "God, is Christianity the only way?". As soon as I said that, my heart started stopping. When it did, I felt my soul and something like raw sin in it. I remember saying "forgive me" and it went away. I believed after that. Has anyone had a similar occu?

Why is it that when a female slaps/hits a male most people see it as okay and not a big deal, but when a male hits a female it's completely out of order? Is it just me or do you feel that it should be equally bad?

I'm thinking about dying my hair. I have done it before, but only to lighten it a bit. Now I'm thinking of going with this color: it's a reddish brown, and very pretty http://clairol.com/herbalessences/vibrant/step4.jsp
I'm also thinking of adding the Herbal Essences highlights for curly hair, that ate a warm caramelly-brown.
My original hair color is a medium brown. I know this would be a pretty intense change, but I'd like to do it. Would this look good with blue-grey eyes?
If you don't think this is a good color pair for me, why? and what do you think I should do?
Also, should I get the Herbal Essences box kit, or get it done in a salon? Sometimes in a salon is REALLY expensive, but if you go the cheaper way, the quality is less... is that true?

I (Capricorn man) have been in long relationship and marriage with a Gemini woman. We're in early thirties. Seems like I could never find a way on how to melt and win over her. I'd rather say that our relationship is rather dull. All good things, behaviors, treatments, being spontaneous, tried experiments, etc all I have done (or tried to do). She's standing still like a rock, unchangeable. I couldn't generate much interest from her. So what interests and arouses (sex life) a Gemini woman towards a man (especially the husband)?

A nun, badly needing to use to the restroom, walked into a local Hooters. The place was hopping with music and loud conversation and every once in a while the lights would turn off. Each time the lights would go out, the place would erupt into cheers. However, when the revelers saw the nun, the room went dead silent.

She walked up to the bartender, and asked, "May I please use the restroom? The bartender replied, "OK, but I should warn you that there is a statue of a naked man in there wearing only a fig leaf." Well, in that case I'll just look the other way," said the nun.

So, the bartender showed the nun to the back of the restaurant.

After a few minutes, she came back out, and the whole place stopped just long enough to give the nun a loud round of applause. She went to the bartender and said, "Sir, I don't understand. Why did they applaud for me just because I went to the restroom?"

"Well, now they know you're one of us," said the bartender.

"But, I still don't understand," said the puzzled nun.

"You see, Sister," laughed the bartender, "every time someone lifts the fig leaf on that statue, the lights go out".
