I feel like I'm living a double standard. My pledge is to keep my virginity until marriage for my future wife. But then, I remember, when I was 12, me and my childhood best friend (sweetheart, whatever) tried to see how it feels to kiss. We did it in the hayloft of our barn. Looking back, that was a step too close to the brink!

Think about it, people! Considering how close that was to our teen years--I mean come on! Raging hormones! We were near 13 at that time! I think it was close to the brink! I remember laying her down on the haystack! This is serious! You guys think I'm joking!? Raging hormones, for cryin' out loud! This is no joke, people!

I am thinking of buying my first Ipod which will be a 2gb Ipod Nano. I don't know much about digital music. Whenever I have bought MP3 players before I have been confused by file formats and DRM. Does Ipod work with all file formats (i.e. can I download music from any music store, copy my CD collection onto it etc?) Thanks for any assistance. I would also appreciate any views from people who own a 2 gb Ipod Nano.

As a child I wasn't told that I had a different father. My Mom told me at the age of 25, but I had already figured out what family name I came from, just not which brother it might be. When she told me, it took me 4 years to build the courage to approach him. I went to his home and his NOW wife made me feel as if I had no right to be there. (I was conceived BEFORE they met) She acted as if I were out for money. I was not prepared for questions about my blood type etc; She even suggested that I may belong to one of his brothers, not him. She began to demand DNA testing. I began to cry, I felt just like a child and I felt that the burden of proof should be on my parents NOT me. He said that he didn't deny that I am most likely his child and that I look just like his mother. I would love a relationship with my Dad. I feel that I've been cheated out of major experiences and denied the right to know my Dad. But he's made no effort to contact me. Should I try again to connect with him?

(It's the opening to a short story I've been writing.)

“So, what brings someone like you to a place like this?” it was an honest question—it wasn’t exactly normal for someone to be standing all by himself at the Halloween carnival wearing a pair of Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses.

He didn’t give an immediate response but gave this wicked smile as if telling him that he didn’t have time to talk to children. Kaffe wasn’t a child, though, he had turned fifteen eight months ago, plus, the other man didn’t seem to be any older than eighteen.

After a sip of his Styrofoam covered soda, the mysterious man answered, “I’m a demon here to prey on unsuspecting children as custom on Halloween night. Didn’t you know?” Kaffe grinned and decided to play along, “So, Mr. Demon, having any luck?”

“Plenty, I’m like honey to a hive of bees. I just seem to naturally attract them.”

My sister and I are opening a full-service Nail Spa in the Caribbean. We are about to start looking for a well rounded- nail tech for our opening next year. Any nail techs or nail shop owners can advise on what we can look for in a good technician? Any "must-ask" questions for the interview? and finally where can we begin to look or post the position (there are virtually no certified nail techs available on our island)?

I mean think about the nature of a snake. They are cold, calculating, no feelings, no emotions, heck they will even try to eat their owners without a moment of regret. They don't "taste" their food or enjoy it they swallow it whole. I know the bible is the inspired word of God but for those who don't.........do you realize the people who wrote the bible had no real knowledge about snakes as they had done no "scientific testing" at that time. Isn't it amazing that for a few hundred years science seemed to prove God's reality to people, until they deliberately tried to start "denying the truth" and having willfull ignorance?

Searching for snakes may not be for everyone. Most snakes are secretive and finding them is a difficult task. Here are some tips about snake habits, so your next encounter will be more than just a chance meeting.

Laurence M. Klauber, the Museum's first herpetologist, was the first to report on the successes of road driving for snakes. Now referred to as "night-driving" or "road-cruising," snake enthusiasts will spend hours driving up and down paved roads at night in search of snakes

Snakes are most active in warm weather (75-90°F) and tend to avoid both cold and extremely hot temperatures. Search for snakes when the temperature is right. In the spring, snakes will be more active in the daytime. In the summer, when days are sweltering, snakes will be active at night.

Snakes on the move often stop and pause on surfaces that are warm in order to thermoregulate. Warm surfaces include paved streets, dirt roads, and hiking trails. Keep an eye out for snakes stretched perpendicular to the direction of travel. While good sources of heat, roads and trails are dangerous places with lots of predators. Exposed snakes often take the shortest path to get to cover on the other side.

They will bask on rocks or sun themselves before dark. When hiking in wilderness areas, southwestern facing slopes have a greater abundance of snakes. These slopes receive the last rays of the day. Rock climbers on southwestern facing slopes beware!

Snakes will wait for their prey. Look for snakes in areas with rodent activity. These include woodpiles and rocky terrain. Rodents like to run along the margins of barriers such as large boulders. Snakes will coil and wait along rodent trails.

They are secretive, so look under logs and rocks. Make sure you return the log or rock to its original position.

The most abundant snake species are Gartersnakes. Many Gartersnakes can be found in a single outing. Look in streams, ponds, and lakes. Gartersnakes may be seen along the margins, swimming underwater, or basking on rocks and floating vegetation.
