Silva and Wanita Rodriques are the owners of Year-Round Landscape, Inc., a small
landscape and yard service business in southern California. The business is three years
old and has grown significantly, especially during the past year. To sustain this growth,
Year-Round Landscape must expand operations.

In the past, the Rodriques have been able to secure funds for the business from personal
resources. Now those resources are exhausted, and the Rodriques are seeking a loan
from a local bank. To satisfy bank requirements, Year-Round Landscape, Inc., must
provide a set of financial statements, including comparative income statements showing
the growth in earnings over the past three years. In analyzing the records, Silva notices
that the nominal accounts have not yet been closed for this year. Furthermore, Silva is
aware of a major contract that is to be signed on January 3, only three days after the
December 31 year-end for the business. Silva suggests that the closing process be
delayed one week so that this major contract can be included in this year’s operating
results. Silva estimates that this contract will increase current year earnings by 20%.

What accounting issues are involved in this case? What are the ethical issues?

Hello all

My mum had a bladder operation 6 weeks ago, basically to lift her bladder as she was going loo all the time and has had 5 kids. They also took out her uterus and tightened the walls around her bladder in general.

She didnt recover well, but came home about 3 weeks ago and in the past 3-4 weeks, has been treated for a urine infection by her GP, two lots of anti-biotics have been given but she still has an infection and will be given more AB's tommorow.

She is also worried that the op. didnt work, she says she is still bleeding, still has very little control of her bladder and is discharging brown stuff and blood.

My mums surgeon has been rubbish with the follow up and we feel basically useless. I know this site isnt the best place to get such detailed medical advice, but my mum just wants to know if this is normal and has anyone else been through it.

Many thanks.

I keep hearing about a plan to wipe out Iran's entire military in 3 days. I find it extremely frightening that this is being considered. Can anyone tell me more about this? Don't waste your time with rude, partisan answers please. There's enough of that going on already.

Jex Varner, chief financial officer of Wyndam, Inc., is involved in a meeting with the firm’s
newly hired external auditors, Ernst & Price. The external auditors have noted several
adjusting entries that they believe should be reflected in the current period’s financial
statements. Specifically, there are questions regarding $400,000 of cash that has been
received (and recorded as revenue) but not yet earned. The auditors feel that this
amount should be recognized as a liability.

Jex counters that the firm’s policy has always been to recognize revenue when the cash
is received. He states that $350,000 of cash was received in December of last year,
earned in January, and no adjustment was made. To be consistent, he continues, he
doesn’t believe any adjustments should be made this year.

As a member of the external auditing team, do you agree with Jex’s reasoning? If you
think that an adjustment needs to be made, what journal entry would you propose? What
should be done about the $350,000 that has been earned this year even though the cash
was received last year?

There is only one Bible but people (humans beings) interpret it differently. Who explained it best? Of course you would say your religion is the right one, but how would you know?

here's the situation
couple A goes to look at an apartment on Monday at 4:30ish
they like it, and as they're leaving, the woman showing the apartment says "well, let me know if you decide you'd like to rent it"

Noon rolls around the next day, and the couple A has desided they'd like to rent the apartment, so they call the lady.

She has already rented it out to couple B whom she showed the apartment to Tuesday morning.

While I would fully understand her wanting to rent the apartment as soon as possible (even though the current renters aren't moving out until the end of the month)
...is it wrong of me to think that she should have given couple A (which obviously includes me) at least a day to deside?

I locked myself out today, without keys, shoes, or cellphone, and with my oven on. None of my neighbors are home during the day, so I decided I had to get inside somehow. We have a back door with the top half of the door being glass with wood squares forming or simulating panes. I tried to break out one pane with a hammer and after beating on the glass with all my might for quite awhile it didn't break. I was finally able to use a long flathead screwdriver between the door knob and frame and pop open the door (which is ok because we also have a dead bolt we can use). Now I'm wondering if all exterior doors have safety glass? This made me feel much better about break-ins considering I had such a horrible time breaking into my own home!
