You should watch this show called "Whose wedding is it anyway" I think that what it is called. It's on the Style channel if you have cable. Anyhow, The con would be dealing with the bride or groom tantrums. Also dealling with stress when you're running out of time and cant get something done. I remember one time I was watching it and she had to find a judge to marry a couple at a hotel for friday night. She had a very hard time finding one that would do it on Friday night. She was able to find a woman judge but problem was that the bride wanted a male jude only. Another con, you have to be creative all the time. So if you have done ten weddings with a Calla lilly theme and this next bride wants something different than all of them, you have to come up with another idea. Kinda hard to be creative when you don't have a team to bounce off ideas with each other. Another con is if the weather is looking bad and about to rain and you have an outdoor wedding, you have to come up with a solution that is affordable and not get your bride and groom stressed out.

So basically, if you can't handle the stress, don't do it. You would have to be a tough cookie!

A friend of mine suggested I would be good at this, but when I think about all the headaches involved I just don't think it would be a good fit for me. I understand a good wedding planner can make good money, but you are responsible for making the most important day of a couple's life the greatest it can be. It's a job that takes being able to multi-task, being creative, working well under stress, being able to change streams at a moment's notice.

When you pull off the fantasy wedding, I am sure it is very rewarding, but when you are dealing with situations where emotions run high and disagreements over petty things can get heated, I would wonder if it were worth it.

Cons

Working hard with no days off
dealing with difficult people
impossible requests with an even more impossible deadline
indecisive clients
if you have no experience in the wedding industry you will crash and burn
You don't make any money until you have built up a client base and reputation so that means working 2 jobs
Lots of driving and phone calls and planning

Pros
flexible schedule
being creative
working with people
seeing it all come together on the wedding day and feeling great because you were a part of it (if nothing goes wrong!)

Con - you will rarely make more than even 10k a year. There are only a few well paid wedding planners in every city and they've been there for years. It seems like dream job, but it's a job that few people will ever be successful in.

Pros: You get to help someone plan a very meaningful day. They will always remember you, if you do a good job. You'll get paid to plan parties!

Cons: You'll probably have to deal with customers who freak out all the time and are perfectionists about their big day. Even worse, you may have to deal with their MOTHERS! Wah!

I think there are to many pro's and con's to list here. One pro I can think of is you will make a lot of money. The biggest con I can think of is dealing with all those tempermental bride's and their families. You couldn't pay me enough to deal with all the bridezillas out there.

Pros -- you get to go to a lot of nice parties, and help brides fulfill their lifelong dreams.

Cons -- brides (and their mothers) can be a real pain in the a**!
