hi all
i have paided for my no claims to be protected '6 years' protected no claims.
my insurance renewal is now due in 2 weeks
today someone hit my car , so anyway the question is now that i have claimed on my insurance and its protected'this is the first time claiming'
when i am asked' by another insurance company if i renew somewhere else' if i have made any claims in the last 3 years or what ever, do i tell them, or does the proctected no claims mean i dont have to as it was protected so hence insurance does not go up ' you are allowed 2 claims in 3 years 'england'.
'does protected mean any claims made do not have to be counted as claims' ??

I am not trying to be ugly, nor am I anti-immigration. I am truly wanting to understand.

I have been doing some genealogy, and 100 years ago almost every immigrant from any other country learned english within a few years of coming? What is different now? Why don't they learn english?

A federal court case involving Internet wiretapping has revealed the Bush administration at its worst.

I don't say this lightly. Senior attorneys from the U.S. Department of Justice showed up before the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals last week and argued that the president should be able to violate federal law--and that judges can't do anything about it.

Excerpt from a Justice Department 'state secrets' brief
Their argument rests on something called the "state secret" privilege, which traditionally has been used to pull the plug on lawsuits that could, for instance, disclose national-security secrets such as a crashed military plane's true mission.

But now President Bush and Attorney General Alberto Gonzales have expanded it to throw out a lawsuit (PDF) saying that AT&T illegally opened its network to the National Security Agency. Their arguments rest on the principle that even if the president is breaking the law, he can get away with it as long as he invokes national security. Courts would be demoted to a clerical role of noting that the "state secrets" privilege has been invoked and dismissing the case post-haste.

This would, if taken to its logical conclusion, allow the president to get away with murder.

Here, of course, we're talking about the Bush administration trying to derail a civil lawsuit against AT&T filed to right a wrong--there's no criminal prosecution--but the principle is the same. (Note that 50 USC 1809 makes it a federal felony to engage "in electronic surveillance under color of law, except as authorized by statute.")

No wonder the judges were skeptical. "The bottom line here is that once the executive declares that certain activity is a state secret, that's the end of it?" Judge Harry Pregerson asked. "No cases, no litigation, absolute immunity? The king can do no wrong?"

These are the kind of questions that journalists should be asking as well, and that's what I'm planning to do through this new blog here on CNET News.com. It's an independent, nonpartisan effort to report on the intersection of technology, law and policy in the areas that affect our lives and liberty.

And because I said it would be nonpartisan, I should acknowledge that the Department of Justice during the Clinton and Carter presidencies invoked the state secret privilege as well. And it's true that perhaps a Gore or Kerry presidency would have veered in the same expansive direction as Bush has. But that lies in the realm of speculation; the reality today is that we have the worrying prospect of a president who would place himself above the law.

I'm Active Army, Wife is Active Air-Force. The Military says they can't help us get stationed together. Three hours is the closest they can get us. Re-Enlistment says there are no slots for me. There are plenty of Army soldiers with my same job on her base. Talked to IG, EO, 1sgt, CO, Re-enlistment. Time is running out on contract and I'm ready to re-sign another contract. What else can I do?

I've known this really cute boy since grade 7, and he's a year older than me. He'll grate next year, while I'll be left behind. I will be taking a grade 12 course, so theirs a small chance that I'll end up in his class, but my problem is that... I've never spoken to him my whole life. He doesn't know who I am, but every time I come across him I look like a complete idiot. He probably thimks I'm stalking him, WHICH I'M NOT! But I don't know how to aproach him, wouldn't it be wierd to just go up to a stranger and say "Hi, I've had a crush on you since grade 7."

She won't sleep for more than an hour at a time. At night she wakes up every hour, sometimes less, and 2 hours is the longest she'll go. She wakes up and wants to nurse. I'm not sure if she 's doing it from hunger or for comfort, because sometimes she just takes a few sips, and goes back to sleep. But she won't go to sleep unless I nurse her for even a minute. She doesn't want a pacifier.
Even during the day, when she takes naps, she won't sleep for an hour or two at once. She wakes up all the time and wants to nurse. Is she using me as a pacifier? Could something be really bothering her? I took her to the doc, and she seems just fine. And when she's awake, she's a happy baby who laughs and babbles all the time. She's gaining about 3oz a week, which is okay for her age (8months).
Why won't she sleep for more than an hour at a time? I am soooo exhausted, but that's okay, I'll be patient. I just wish I knew what 's bothering her. It doesn't seem normal to me...
