I know circumcision is a JEWISH tradition, not a CHRISTIAN tradition, but I'm still rather conflicted as to whether or not I should have my son circumcised. I wouldn't do it for a religious reason (unless it was a religious reason NOT to do it). I know that man is made in God's image and is perfect the way they come (so therefore, with the foreskin they are perfect), but I have heard many conflicting stories as to whether it really is better, hygienically, to be circumcised.
I know that there are statistical rates that men who have been circumcised have less STD's and less chances of contracting them. But, I'm hoping my son would be sexually moral and would wait until marriage anyways (but i know that it doesn't always happen this way...). But is there any real benefit to having it done? Religiously or medically? The baby's father is jewish, so I know his view is that our son HAS to be circumcised (including the whole ritualistic bit). is it a sin to circumcise your child?
