what do I do with a 3 day pack pack when flying? Check the pack? Put it in a suitcase?

I am taking a 3 day camping trip in september and need to fly across country. I am not sure what to do with my pack, pack it in another suitcase or check it?

Just check it in like regular luggage.
They get all sorts of strange baggage.
