I wasjust wondering why when someone on Y answers has a serious question, they can only on average get 4-6 answers but you have a troll post a question that is so freekin dumb they get 30 or more answers/ comments. Dont you think our time would be better spent to skip over the trolls and answer those who really have questions? Might also detour the trolls, if they dont get a rise out of people then they dont get their kicks. Just a thought, anyone else?

Its just anoying when you have to waste 5 pts to ask a serious question and you do not get a variatry of answers, I myself like to keep my points and only ask questions when I really need a good answer then I get few answers and its frusterating. Suggestions? I know some of the questions may not be interesting that ppl have but gotta be better than the trolls right?

Ok thanks for leting me vent HAHA!

because there are young kids on here, who don't want to think about deep things or don't have any original thoughts...

I usually skip all those stupid questions too because its a waste of my time even to get 2 points! The other ones I skip are the ones when the same person asks the same question in the same catergory 3 or 4 times in a matter of a few minutes or hours...gee have a little patience and if you need an answer that badly it must be an emergency and you shouldn't be wasting your time on here anyways!

I choose to not answer some serious questions because I have nothing more to add to some of the other answers. But if I have a different prospective or research I will definately share.

Hope you have a great day :)

I have to agree with you. I try to give in depth answers to all the questions I answer unless they can be answered with a simple answer. There are a lot of young people on here and they think their questions are just as important as anyone Else's. What I don't like are the answers that tell someone to get a life or trivialize the question or the person asking. Most people won't ask if they don't want an answer of some sort. It may seem trivial to others, but to the person asking it was important. I think some people just answer to get points and so the don't care what kind of answer they give. I usually won't answer if there are a,ready several answers all say basically the same thing I would, although sometimes I will elaborate on an answer for someone. In my experience people are mostly egocentric and care about themselves more than anyone else. Let them give the dumb answers if it makes them feel better. Do what is right for yourself and don't worry about anyone else. If you have a serious questions you can always ask me and if I know I will try to help you out. :)

I've always wondered the same thing myself but I think Julie is on the right track with her answer... I usually only ask questions when I need some serious advice and barely get 5 or 6 comments... and then an average of 2 of those are just some idiot putting up a comment that doesn't even have anything to do with my question or they're just being a jerk. It is soooo aggravating... I wish there were ways to prevent it... Ideas anyone???

Up front and honest - I like that, Katy. You're right, of course, the trolls seem to attract a lot more attention than they deserve. Unfortunately, Answers doesn't allow us to place a 'troll' flag on a user's id (wouldn't that be helpful!).
I know I have passed on answering some questions because the answers already given seemed to be sufficient. But if I have a variation that I feel is better, or at least different but still valid, I'll post it.
Don't lose faith. Remember, if the trolls are kept busy with lots of reading, they're being kept out of trouble elsewhere (lol)!

It would be nice if the questioner had the right to take away the two points (or more) for really stupid, unrelated answers, including "I don't know"
The thing is, not everything is a matter of public opinion, some things are facts and others require particular experience. The advantage of Answers is that you can reach tens of thousands of people for the one or two (or 6) that might have useful information - especially those that lurk in categories and build points with good answers in a limited area instead of picking off new questions.

I totally agree with you, the trolls, try and get everyones attention and it works, because you get all worked up just reading the question. and there are alot of young people on here who don't really know the answers to the serious questions we may ask. I suppose we have to be happy with the few serious answers we get.:)

Because a majority of people on here are under the age of 16 and are much more concerned about how other people percieve them and want to be popular, even if it is on YA! They're too concerned with what to wear on the first day of school, what myspace layout to have and if this haircut is cute or not to look at or answer the real questions. Good for you for wasting those 5 points, well wasted I say. I'm sick of seeing nothing but questions spelled incorrectly, and titled: "Do u thnk i'm a hawtttttie!?!!!??!?!?!??!??!??!!!?!?"

But that's just me. Thanks for letting me vent. :) Ha.

the serious questions dont get so many answers because they are real questions, and once someone answers it with a right answer, there is really no point in another person saying the same thing.

the troll questions are often about opinions. and therefore many ppl can answer it.

get it?

Unfortunately, the trolls get everyone worked up which is their goal. It always works. They ask a terrible question and get 100 answers. I know what you mean though...serious questions rarely average more than 10 answers...
