Does anyone have any new/creative/interesting or sucessful tricks or ideas on how to quit smoking? I've been smoking for abou 2-3 years now and when my mom died at the age of 47 from lung cancer (though hers was not smoking related), I promised her I would quit. Just recently I found out her mother has emphysethmia, and my father is also a smoker (for many years) and is short of breath often. (He lives with me so it is tough when I decide to quit, if he still smokes). Also, I had a PE, or Pulmonary Embolism (blood clot in the lung) in the past 2 years that could've been fatal, and I have a 3 year old who I want to live a long healthy life for. No, I don't smoke around her. Plus, I just don't enjoy smoking anymore, b/c of the smell, the health risks, it gives me headaches, but the nicotine has got a strong hold on me. Please help if you can! Thank you!

My 14 year old brother is just entering high school and as recently as last December suffered from an outbreak of bacterial encephalitis. He is set on playing for his school's football team. His team recently began to practice with full pads on- helmet, shoulder pads, etc. and he reports to suffer from headaches almost immediately after beginning to play.

Is this an after-effect of the encephalitis and is it dangerous?

I've been wondering about this for a very long time. I have a spiritual religion, btw (dunno why that matters). So, what do you believe? My dad and boyfriend are both atheists, and they aren't really that clear on what they believe. So, where do you think we go when we die?

Isn't it frightening to think that after you die, you aren't going anywhere else? Or do you believe in reincarnation? Just tell me what you believe!

Hi guys, I need an advice about how to peacefuly handle a neighbour problem. This guy living next to us has taken a habit to park his car in front of our house on daily basis even though, his driveway is empty and there is no one parked in front of his house.

Now, I am well aware that the street is a public space but a common decency tells me otherwise...I mean friends and family drop by all the time and they have no where to park (we already have two cars in our single-line driway).

My husband has approached him today about this and asked politely if he could kindly park in his space since we need ours. To which he replied "Is there anyone parked now???" Since the answer was no, he's still parked in front of our house...

Obviously, he's looking for a fight. Any suggestions how to handle this problem without making this worst than it is???
Please help! Thanks!!!

i think my landlady is trying to take advantage of her tenants. I want to talk to previous tenants to talk about their experiences with this particular landlady. She has been harassing me and I think this may end up in court. I want to see if there has been similar problems with her previous tenants.

i am a young poet who is restless. i want to get discovered, but how? i've tried poetry competitions, but they usually just turn out to be a scam. not to be narsissistic, but i am too advanced for the options provided for my age group. (i'm thirteen.) the majority of other teenagers don't understand my work, and what adult would like to read the work of someone so young? i assure you, i am entirely on my own when i write. i don't have people help me at all, but i'm not sure that anyone would believe that...?

if you know of any publishing companies or online things that would work for my condition, could you notify me???

thank you!!!

My husband had a myspace account and all his friends were women of various sexual orientation and I questioned him on his choices (he's in his 40's, I'm 32 ).He said they were friends. I found out that he was sending them inapporiate messages for a man who is married with 3 kids . We have argued over myspace on various occasions. He cancled his account stating his wife was a ***** she didn't want him to have any friends. He even deleted family members which was why we got myspace in the first place. I recently found out that he has a new account with my space where he list himself as in a relationship and as not being married. He has also started collecting girls and has no family members on this site..........I don't know what to do since I found this out by snooping in his computer because I did not trust him. we have 3 kids and I think what he is doing is wrong. Am I being too uptight and should I be snooping???? I just want to do what is right for my family.

What is the difference between mastic and morter?

i no the main differences but in the way that it dries.
Additional Details

ok i wasnt specifc enough. i no what they are and to the first answer yes morter is flexible most tile morter has latex in it to give it flex. mastic is to be used for tiles up to 8x8, you can use it for bigger tiles but it takes longer to dry. morter is a thinset morter and usually uses the moisture from the surface to cure. i remember a vendor ( i work at menards) telling me it was because they set up differently, i think the mastic takes longer because it uses the air to help itself dry while the morter uses the moisture from the underlayment. is this correct???

I have several light switch cover plates that are bowing out. There doesn't seem to be any pressure on them as if I overtightened the screws. It seems like heat or something else is causing them to bend out. I did find a way to straighten them though... Place them in the oven at 225 degrees for about 10 minutes or so. Flat now but why did they bend in the first place.....

I really could care less what some guy named Paul says -- I don't pray to Paul every night, and I don't go to the house of Paul on Easter Sundays.
I want to know where none other than God says gay people are morally wrong.

While I wait, chew on this--
Separation of church and state should clarify to people that because God says so isn't a legal reason for Gay marriage to be illegal.
Even if the separation of church and state didn't exist, and the U.S. or wherever was Christian, Gays being morally wrong doesn't mean no marriage. Murderers are allowed to marry, and they even have a commandment against them.
If god didn't want gays to exist because they are foul beings, why would he have created them? Don't say free will because if we had completely free will, without God giving us any ideas, their would be the controversy of people loving rocks, or thinking that tearing down buildings was murder.
We don't think things without God giving us a little guidance.

i dont have enough money to re-carpet my floor. for my room my dad says that it would cost about $500. but we dont have enough spare money for that kind of thing (we're saving for disney.) but i hate my carpet! it has stains all over it that i cant get out. and its a girly periwinkle color. he said that i can re-paint it. but i cant paint it the color i want because the carpet wont work with it. i dont know what to do. my room is SO tiny as it is and i dont like it very much already. my parents have the biggest room (obviously) my older brother has the second biggest, my little brother has the third (i could have had it but it has green walls and red carpet) and my older sisters room is the same size as my little brother's. what is an alternative to recarpeting my room so i dont have to pay as much??? is there ANY ideas, anything that might help is appretiated, thanks!!!
