i think my landlady is trying to take advantage of her tenants. I want to talk to previous tenants to talk about their experiences with this particular landlady. She has been harassing me and I think this may end up in court. I want to see if there has been similar problems with her previous tenants.

We need more info. regarding the harassment and how the LL is supposedly taking advantage of you. Other tenants and their apartments are really no business of yours and really doesn't prove anything in court except maybe that the LL has a history of unhappy tenants. How would it end up in court? Does she come to your home every day and harass you? Does she threaten you? What exactly is going on?

Unless you want a war start a TENANTS UNION. There is no law against that and write down your continued concerns on paper, then everyone sits down together to discuss it. If it cannot be done then consult a tenant/realtor attorney in your area if it makes it to court.

Be advised that your landlady may get even nastier to get back at all of you by trying to raise your rent which is illegal. Complain on you about your kids, visitors to your place staying over, not fixing any repairs that may need needed maintenance...Know your rights as a tenant in your state -- btw every state has them as STATUTES so key them up and read up. KNOW YOUR RIGHTS AND BE WATCHFUL of what is happening around you.

Start a block watch also to help each other out. If you trust each other it will work out alright. Take care.

Have you received mail addressed to them at your address? recently? Maybe they have put in a change of address at the post office. If it has been less than a year since they moved send a postcard to your address in their name and at the bottom left write three letters A C R (Address correction requested) the post office will return it to you with their new address. Pretty cool eh? or stop by the post office and see if they can help with a current address. try an address search on whitepages.com.

If it goes to court you can subpeona the landy's records unless you know who the previous tenant is. In that case, you can try online white pages or one of the online people searches.

tenants - no record except the property manager

but owners are easy to track...

now you could go to
http://www.reversephonedirectory.com/

and go to the address section...input the address and see who pops up.

good luck :)

Ask the neighbors they may have had friends. If you got any of their mail so you know their names and it hasn't been long write them and it could be forwarded.
