i am a young poet who is restless. i want to get discovered, but how? i've tried poetry competitions, but they usually just turn out to be a scam. not to be narsissistic, but i am too advanced for the options provided for my age group. (i'm thirteen.) the majority of other teenagers don't understand my work, and what adult would like to read the work of someone so young? i assure you, i am entirely on my own when i write. i don't have people help me at all, but i'm not sure that anyone would believe that...?

if you know of any publishing companies or online things that would work for my condition, could you notify me???

thank you!!!

Just keep writing and sending out samples to publishers.

Van Goth never made it big in his lifetime... his work was only recognized after he died.

Your peers may not realize the genuis of your work but maybe the generations to come will.

Keep at it. If it is to be, it will be one day soon.

g-day!

If you really want to know how good you are, send me a poem or two and I'll give you an honest evaluation, along with any recommendations. If I think you are truly gifted beyond your years, I'll offer some publishing options. If, however, you fall short of the mark, I'll provide some pointers and offer you some advice on how to hone your skill. Publishers usually don't make allowances for age, nor do they take off points because you're young (I'm not sure who told you that). The bottom line for any publisher is profit...will your work sell books? If yes, then you get published...if no, then you move along smartly. So, send me a couple (no more than two) and I'll provide feedback. No, I won't steal your poems, they are your property and you have the copyrights because you are the poems author...that's the way it works. If I think you're publishing material, I will not be the one who'll publish you, but I can provide you an inside track if you are as good as you think you are...let's see.

send your poems to "newpoetspress@yahoo.com". Put something in the subject line so I'll know that you're sending poems for review and if you can, put the poem directly in the text of the message (unless it's a carmen figuraturum, it shouldn't make any difference and that way I won't have to download and convert anything you send).

I'll provide honest, unbiased opinion and recommendations. Good luck.

A great resource to own is "The Poet's Market." you can find it at any large bookstore, and it's updated each year. It lists all the publications, magazines, chapbook contests, regular (legit) contest, etc. that are open to poets.
What's more, you know these listings in the book are legitimate, because it's researched by professional editors, etc.
Good luck! I'm sure your talent will shine bright.
P.S. The book is kinda pricey.
