Here's an interesting article I read years ago and went web-searching for this morning:

http://www.worldagesarchive.com/Reference_Links/False_Testament_(Harpers).htm

A worthwhile read if you have the time . . . basically, it presents archeaological evidence that the stories of Abraham, Isaac, Moses, David and Solomon in the OT were all every bit as mythological as, well, the tales of other cultures about Hercules or Quetzacoatl or . . . even Odin.

It also demonstrates that Judaism as an organized religion *really* only dates to about the mid-first-millennium BCE.

Now, as someone who obviously *doesn't* believe Earth is the corpse of the primordial giant Ymir but STILL finds sustaining spiritual truths in Norse myth, folk tradition and ethnocultural religion . . . I have to wonder why that just isn't ENOUGH for some people.

Powerful spiritual metaphors + historicity and rich cultural heritage *can and do* = religion. Isn't it time Christians embraced this idea?

So scientists say that 65 million years ago, a giant asteroid 10 kilometers across struck just off the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula.

Have we found pieces of this theoretical giant asteroid, or would have been obliterated on impact?

With such a force of impact, would it have thrown the Earth into our current orbit and maybe alter the tilt of the Earth? If so what kind of orbit did the Earth previously have, and would it have had a different climate?

I was diagnosed with PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) about 8 years ago. I am 30 years old now. PCOS does cause weight gain, hormonal imbalance and insulin resistance. I assume that I have had it for quite some time because I really began to gain weight when I turned 18. But I noticed it was really getting out of hand when I turned 21 or so. I am 5'2" and weigh about 198 pounds. The weight is most noticeable in my face, breasts and stomach, although I have always had large breasts. I do not exercise at all and my diet consists of a lot of sugar (candy like lifesavers, starburst, skittles, cotton candy, etc.). I am addicted to sugar. I drink lots of kool-aid and have started a soda habit now. I honestly don't eat a lot of food. I eat twice a day but a lot of times I am not hungry for dinner, I just eat because my husband will make a big deal about me skipping a meal. He says that there is no way I couldn't be hungry after only eating lunch for the day. But it's true ...

I live in a small town (about 45,000) and I swear, the only thing I see are big *** suv's and trucks all over town.

My question is: Why is it that most people do not care about conserving oil? Why do people need to drive big cars? Is it because they do not care, or because everyone else drives them?

Then people in my town complain about how they have to spend $60 to fill up their trucks/suv's. Come one people! Use common sense!

/I drive a 1996 Honda Accord EX 4 cyl.

Wow, that's the biggest crock of (blah) I have ever heard. If the Yankees are trying to tell A-Rod that this is his potential replacement that's a slap in the face. Betemit is a good bench player and nothing more. He never panned out with the Braves. He was supposed to be the next greatest thing here in A-Town, now look at him.

The Yankees need A-Rod more than A-Rod needs the Yankees. I hope the reports I have been hearing, the Yankees think he is the potential replacement for A-Rod, is just a late April fools joke.

And please people, don't assume you know where I stand on this issue. I know where MOST Christians seem to stand on it, but not sure about the many other religions/non-religious stand. It's and honest question with nothing derogatory aimed toward gays/lesbians or those with different belief systems than me.

My rabbit got bit by another rabbit (it's dad, actually) and is really hurt. It got bit near the legs and lost all its hair in that area. He can't use his hind legs at the moment because there is a giant red ball in the place he got bit at. We have no idea what to do or what it is. But, he's been like that a few weeks and is getting better. Still, any advice or suggestions?

Do snails count as "fish" when your figuring out how many critters to a tank? I've always thought snails benefit the tank.

I have one apple snail (size of a golf ball) 1 ramshorn (I think, or black mystery snail) and several trumpet snails. I also have one male betta in the tank now....but was thinking of getting 3 female bettas and moving the male betta. The tank is 5 gal. & I don't want to overcrowd anybody....the tank has lots of good hiding places & I keep the water changed properly. Think that setup would work? thanks :)
