Wow, that's the biggest crock of (blah) I have ever heard. If the Yankees are trying to tell A-Rod that this is his potential replacement that's a slap in the face. Betemit is a good bench player and nothing more. He never panned out with the Braves. He was supposed to be the next greatest thing here in A-Town, now look at him.

The Yankees need A-Rod more than A-Rod needs the Yankees. I hope the reports I have been hearing, the Yankees think he is the potential replacement for A-Rod, is just a late April fools joke.

Nah, he is not going to NY to replace anybody. Right now the Yanks have no bench. You could not even pinch hit for anyone because of no bench players. That is where is will be, nothing more, nothing less. A-Rod is the best player on the team, he should not let this distract him.

I was wondering the same thing. What I don't understand is they need bullpen help and they trade one of their better arms. Yeah he's been struggling of late but he still has good numbers for a reliever. What will Betemit even do for them? He's gonna come off the bench like he did in LA and Atlanta, he's not the answer to replace A-rod and Cashman doing this makes absolutely no sense.

I'm not A-Rod's biggest fan but even i admit that it's stupid to think Betemit is a potential replacement for Rodriguez.

I really don't see A-Rod leaving New York. It seems reasonable to me that both sides have started the negotiation to keep A-Rod in New York. What A-Rod wants is a new ten year contract that will keep him in New York to the end of his career and both he and the team are jockeying for position.

Just because some reporter is labeling Betemitt as the replacement for A-Rod, does not make it true.

Thats the stupidest thing I have ever heard, the only reason I can think of them considering this is to:
1.) Lower the budget (I highly doubt it)
2.) Since Arod could possibly opt out of contract
