I had an argument with a friend last night about the Smashing Pumpkins. He seems to believe that SP is NOT Hall of Fame caliber-close-but not because of their final stretch of failed albums and confliction within the band (Iha/ Corgan; D'arcy/Jimmy). I believe they are because they were unique, did create three SOLID albums, and have won over a large fanbase over time. Are the Smashing Pumpkins worthy or not and why?

I often read on the internet from women, or hear from women in person, that they've got it "harder" than men.

Can women who attest to this statement explain why?

Because last I checked, it's women that get free drinks, don't have to pay to get in a club (or pay at a discount), doesn't have to "spit game"* or initiate conversation with a guy (since he has to do all of the work), and various other forms of sexist preferential treatment.

So what is it that makes women have it "so much harder" than a man?

I personally find hand-shaking very repulsive. Just think of where a person's hands may have been. It also spreads germs and sickness. Does anyone else feel this way?

My son is definitely healthy and thriving as he is always at the 99% in height and weight. So I'm wondering, is there any benefit to giving him stage 2 formula instead of regular baby formula at this time? He seems to want his formula less and less these days, so I'm wondering if I should switch.

I don't get upset. It seems that some folks get really upset when someone does not speak to them. I witnessed this yesterday. I was like If someone does not speak,oh well. You can't make people say hello. Yahooers how would you respond if you see someone you know and they don't speak? Or vice versa?

I have 4 what I Was told by the man who planted them before we bought this house were, Bradford Pear trees in my Garden. last year they had fruit about the size of a large egg. This year the fruit are bigger, and when I brought some into the house they ripened into what I think are Bartlet OR bosc I tasted one and it was delicious. Could they STILL be Bradford Pears?

These are generalizations that do not apply to all Christians, but do apply to many I come into contact with. They cannot cope with reality, particularly negative aspects, so they believe for comfort. They have a dillusion that they have a relationship with an invincible, silent "God". They justify their incompetence with "God has a plan". They believe that atleast 70% of the world is going to hell. They believe that Muslims are evil. They constantly condemn people. They use the predetermined destiny theory to justify them not taking control of their own lives. I am bitter because my wife is a Christian and we do not agree on anything. Its frustrating for me and it effects my life so I'm looking for some perspective, not critism from Christians. I believe in my heart that these things are true. I'm not trying to bash, but this is what I see every day.

I just replaced the alternator on my van and found that it is overcharging according to the gage(If the alternator was even the problem). It tends to make the liquid inside my battery boil and push it out through the little battery vent(Been through 2 batteries already). I took it to a Mechanic and he stated he checked everything and it's my computer, I wouldn't mind buying another one, however, everyone else seems to think it's a regulator on the alternator and I don't want to spend uneccesary money. Which could it be? Someone please help! Thanks.

How did normal society function in Nazi Germany? You always hear about the government, the war, and the Holocaust (Which was terrible) but what about regular society of typical Germans that the government accepted and who accepted the government?

Were there still luxuries, did people still go to restaurants, bars, clubs, and do regular things? I suppose as the entire time Nazi Germany was at war, it was like any other country at war. I imagine the secret police units scared quiet a few people. Could anyone own a business or were many businesses nationalized and people actually lost money?

Was the atmosphere of fear everywhere in the country? Did anyone go day to day living normally with their families? Or was everyday life even dictated to an extent?

Did everyone become less materialistic, more war focused, more government participation focused? What was going on in everyday society?

I've been away for awhile and I'm noticing a decided anti-atheist bent here. I realize you've dealt with it all along, and perhaps it's just me, but it sure seems like it's gotten worse in the couple of weeks I've been away.

Think of the decrease in the number of rapists, molesters, and perverts from banning porno... there are other methods of sexual release. what is the freedom of speech worth in the case of something that only harms society? after all, if you threaten the president, you get arrested whether its verbal or not, whether the pres is conservative or liberal. if you threaten a congressman the FBI will pay you a visit, and it wont be for tea and crackers either.
