Kallan, in all honesty, it's members like you that keep us hanging around. You're not an Atheist! Yet you address us with respect, and when you ask us questions you do so out of sincere curiosity--I've never sensed that you wanted to reword any of my answers to make them say whatever you wanted them to say. I've also seen you approach members of other religions as the human beings that they are--this is something I seem very rarely able to do, myself.
You're an example of how things could be, and a reminder of what we're working toward. Not the elimination of religion--that's never been my wish, and I've read many posts by other Atheists that voice the same thing. Instead, religious FREEDOM.
So with that said, I wish to cast my vote in you not leaving. If you did, I would be the last to blame you... but it would be our loss.
I also wish to remind you that the childishness has always been here. It's the reason why I started swimming in these waters, and most likely the first thing that inspired you to come here as well, I'd wager. It's summer break. The kids are out of school, and kids bore easily. Idiots? They've been here all along, as well. Hell, the discussions we have on this board now are pretty much the same conversations that Mankind has been having for thousands of years.

I'm not an atheist...but, will answer anyway...
I usually log on a couple of times a day, during the work week, when bored at work. I have been doing this for a couple of months.
I notice that the tone/mood,etc...changes from day to day....one day there seems to be a lot fundies here, another day a lot of atheists. There always seems to be a hot topic.
I really wonder if the fundies have some kind of groups that coordinate the days that they visit certain sites....some days I will ask a leading question and no one picks up....other days I will ask a leading question, and get attacked by everyone. Some days I will ask the same question that I asked a couple of weeks ago, just to see the different responses.
Anyway, those are my observations.

This one hopes that you will not decide to leave this forum as this one has enjoyed many of the quotes you have sited as well as many of the thoughtful questions you have posed.
Each one is where that one is.
Each makes choices , either consciously or unconsciously, throughout his or her life that has lead them to where they are.
Where each one is can be and is the starting point of their journey to enlightenment.
Realizing such, one can witness behaviors that might seen unkind with the understanding that some are at such a place as to act in such a manner.
Perhaps they will notice the same and so begin their journey with mindful intenet.
(No god in Buddhism, so this one must be an atheist, along with his Holiness, the Dalia Lama. Good company, smile.)
May you be well.

Well, first of all, I say this forum is diminished by your absence.
Regarding the increased anti-atheist bent, I don't mind a bit. It only serves to further prove the fact that organized religion is built on a foundation of ignorance, hypocrisy and intolerence.
I keep coming back because every once in a while someone actually adds something new and thought-provoking to the dialogue. And, of course, because the semi-literate fundamentalists are endlessly entertaining!
Don't take this s**t too seriously, Kallan!

Hi Kallan, Nice to see you again. I do understand, I haven't been on much this week either. But I also got my first house in escrow, so thanks to all who gave positive energy when I asked for it, it helped.
I think it is true that the forum seems to take turns picking on different groups, I saw something the other day that was very disrespectful to Wiccans, you never know which idiots will be on here, but as long as there are good people like you and me, we shall prevail. Smooches

Just remember: not everyone here is childish and idiotic. We need to stick together to stop the ones who are from taking over, despite our religious disagreements.
I've been having a really mean troll follow me around lately sending me offensive emails and posting questions to "rebuke" me. A lot of people have sent me encouraging messages and posted their own questions to call out the clone. It's nice that we can stick up for each other even if we don't believe the same things.

I don't take the hateful questions seriously. I usually just chuckle and give an answer that will hopefully make the person see how their comments give bad examples for their faith. I think the good hearted theists on here are embarrassed by the behavior of some of the hateful posters, and do not want to be associated with that.

Yes, yes, and yes.
I blame it on summer break and all the young 'uns on the computer. Many are still believing what their parents tell them and bash anyone else. Perspective comes with maturity.
I sure haven't been sending the same amount of time here because of the childishness. But at the same time, if we don't present these kids with other valid ways of thinking, even beyond atheism, then we're letting them stew in their own brainwashing. They should be able to ask questions, even silly ones, and hopefully receive a little education in return.

Um, I'm not an atheist, but may I play, too?
I've actually been spending MORE time here than usual these last two weeks.
But that's probably because I"m on pain pills until Tuesday, and it's MUCH easier to cope with the tripe on here on drugs.
((((((Kallan))))))
After Wednesday I'll probably pretty much disappear and be back on 360 (which requires FAR more alertness than this place)

I think that it goes to show how the religious community really is. They would rather attack questions and people's responses with a hateful tone rather than trying to say why they feel that way and what evidence they feel that they have that is relevant to the conversation.
But, if you back a cat into a corner that it can see no way out of it will fight.
So I guess when a non believer corners them with rational thinking and logical questions and since their beliefs offer them no answer or supporting facts they will attack since they have no other educated way of debate.
