I'd have to side with HP also. I bought an HP back in 2003 when I just got out of high school. I still have it today. I use it on a daily basis. It's been every where with me from North Carolina to Chicago and even across seas when I went to China for 3 months. So I stand by HP and love there products.

I am a computer network administrator and work in the Windows world, and have been exposed to every flavor of Windows and several brands, Dell, HP, Compaq, Toshiba. But i have 3 Apples at home. They are excellent. Now dont get confused, you are NOT looking at Apple, vs HP, etc. HP, Dell and Sony, etc. all have Windows on it. The HP or Sony you are eyeing at your local electronics store may be pretty and have tons of diskspace and bells and whistles, but at the end you are still running Windows on it.
So you are really looking at Apple's operating system, called OS X vs. Windows (which comes on whatever). Apple makes their own software and hardware, so its easy to get confused.
Anyways, seeing both worlds, I have come across some issues. Software is the biggest thing. You will pretty much be chained to Apple software no matter what. There are like 4milliions software games and titles for Windows, but a very small percentage for Mac. Also, you cant easily upgrade your Apple Macbook. Hardware is always more expensive. The gap is closing in these two areas, and becoming more universal, but you will still come across issues. Here is an important one, i took an online class at the local university, Mac OS X was not supported. I couldnt take the class online!! The math software in that class was not available either for the MAC. Dont get me wrong. They are GREAT computers, excellent interface, clean, less likely to get hacked or viruses, but be prepared to come across some roadblocks. Its like driving a huge 2 ton pickup truck and finding only Compact Car parking spots LOL....

My daughter grew up with HP, which we always had in our family, but she was required to have a high-performance Mac or Dell for school (she's an art major), and she chose the Mac. Now she loves the Mac and says she'd never go back. In two years she's never had a bit of trouble with it, but our HP was always having fits. We finally got a more expensive Dell (we have both a desktop and a laptop) and they haven't been too bad, but not quite as reliable as the daughter's Mac.

well it depends what u want to do with it. if u just listen n create music, create n watch videos n dvds then the macbook is a great choice. macs can also run windows, so even if u have some windows only programs u can still run them. macs also dont get viruses, or other bad stug pc's are plagued with. go with the macbook, u wont be disapointed, trust me. ive had my mbp for over 6 months now and its still running like the day i got it. u are not stuck with osx, u can install windows, or even linux, and macs curreltly do not have any vireses. they could get them in the future though, but they are more secure.

I would pick the hp anyday. The main reason being that you aren't stuck to windows when using a hp, with a mac your stuck with them. Apple has virusses and spyware just like windows.
