I'm reasonably intelligent, but science just isn't my thing. I read the wikipedia article, and a few other websites, but I'm still pretty confused.

I believe in evolution, but many creationists say that carbon-14 dating is circular logic. They present it as:
"How do you know hold that fossil is?"
"It was found in rock that is 100 million years old!"
"How do you know how old the rock is?"
"It was found with a fossil inside that is 100 million years old!"

I'm sure that explanation isn't right, but I'd like someone to tell me a little more about it, in as basic terms as you can. :) Thanks!

I just setup ubuntu for the first time and it is saying I don't have permission to do anything in the directory and when I go under the file browser and try to edit the permissions it says I am not the owner and so I can't change anything....what's up with that and how do I change it.

OK, I was just reading the nbc.com info on the DiMera family to brush up on my Days knowledge. It said that Stefano used to be obsessed with Julie Williams. I've watched Days for like 17 years (on and off) and I've never heard of such a storyline.

Can you refresh my memory? Do you think this will have any bearing on current storylines?

The war supporters are parroting the line that the troop surge is just now in place. Assuming for the moment that all the additional soldiers are finally there, my question is whether the buildup has been linear or concave. That is, is whatever that happened in the past few weeks to complete the escalation actually significant or did the vast bulk of the surge occur early on and whatever happened recently just minor additions around the edges? There is an obvious motivation for the administration to draw out for as long as possible the surge being complete: whenever things are going bad they can just say that the surge has not yet been completed in order to deflect criticism. Sure it is a cynical view, but with this administration's track record I would not be surprised in the least if something along these lines were true. I have no idea of the actual numbers or facts on the ground so any help would be appreciated.

I was reading an ESPN piece earlier today that asked of Alex, "When has he not been about the money," and it made me wonder where this idea comes from. Why is he seen as more greedy than anyone else? He did his service time in Seattle without complaint, was granted free agency, and signed a huge contract because Tom Hicks was dumb enough to offer $100m more than anyone else. That's not greed, that's just being smart.

Not long ago, when a Rangers-Sox trade involving Alex was discussed, he even offered to take a pay cut to make it happen. Now, he's talking about opting out of his deal, which to me just seems like a smart business move.

But why does this "greedy" impression stick? I don't see anything to support it.

The pain is located directly around my left pectoral muscle and is closer to the far/outside of my chest. The pain is extremely mild but i feel it enough for it to be uncomfortable. I suffer from high blood pressure but I have it under control with medication (Toprol-XL 100mg tablets: 1 per day) and it is back to normal. I also have slightly high cholesterol but only by like 5 points and I have been working to get it down. I've already had an echo cardiogram done about 6 months ago (because of my unusually high blood pressure for my age) and the results were good with no detected problems. I am a 23 year old male and I am not overweight (I'm 5' - 9" and weigh 150lbs) and I am not in bad shape. Does anybody know what could be causing these pains??

How do I get an eviction order from the court to get my sister out of my house which she is currently staying?
She moved in to stay with me since she does not have a place to stay, wasn't even an occupant in my house to start with...
I really want her out of my house and she's refusing to do so. Can I just call the police to get rid of her or do I really need to go through that much trouble? Please advice...

So this guy I've liked from school since the end of March has known I've liked him for awhile now... and he said he liked me...

But he hasn't done anything more than saying, "you know awhile back when i was telling those two girls i liked? you were one of them."

I mean... if a guy REALLY likes you, wouldn't they put in a little more effot? Like maybe ask to hang out sometime or SOMETHING?

Well, then on myspace,
he randomly replied to this random bulletin i posted,
& said, "i want you."

& i was like, "honestly, it's not funny anymore."
& he was like, "am i laughing?"
& i said, "i don't know if you are or not. all i know is it's hard to know when you're being serious, & you're messing around with me."
& he was like, "i'll say haha or lol if i'm joking. but you can't take me seriously, so forget it."

BUT HONESTLY...
who in the WORLD would take ANYONE saying out of the blue "i want you." seriously??

I just found it to be something said as a joke.

I am going to this scrapbook convention. We chose "sweet and sassy" as our theme for our group of 10. We each picked a candy - Hershey's Kiss, Butterfinger, Peppermint Patty, Jelly Bean, etc. We want to stand out from all the other groups because last time we were unprepared. Our colors are hot pink and lime green. Any suggestions on what we can make? I thought about a candy wreath, but have nowhere to hang it. I also thought about filling in our banner with candy. Basically, each letter would be a diff. candy. Let me know if you have any ideas. Thanks!

How do you like this theory.
God cast Satan to earth Mary was rapped by an Incubus gave birth to Christ who is said to be the savior but really is the son of the devil spreading his pestilence which than creates Religion.Which than sends it's preists to molest children.And then you have bible bashers who are out collecting souls for Satan.(Satan said I will make you fishers of souls).Than you have the wars that are caused by religion.Satan also performs miracles.Christ and Satan are coming at the same time and you won't know which one is which so it comes down to one thing Christ,God & Satan are the one being just like your Holy spirit.
