x^2 +12x = -45
x^2 +12x + 36 = -45 + 36
(x+6)^2 = -9
x+6 = +/-3i
x = -6 +/- 3i

You can do this!
x^2 +12x +45 = 0
(x+___)(x+___)=0
There are no two integers that muliply to equal 45 and add to equal 12.
If you are in pre-algebra, there is no solution.
If the 45 was mistyped and is actually positive, then the first posters solution would be correct.
If you have been introducd to the Quadratic Formula, then you can solve this by plugging in a=1, b=12, c=45.

you can change it to X^2 +12X + 45 =0, and then factor it out (X+15)(X-3)=0, so the answers are -15 and 3

x² + 12 + 45 = 0
(x + 15) (x - 3) = 0
x = - 15 , x = 3 (Real solutions)

If you move the -45 back over you have x^2+12x+45. Then you factor. (x+15)(x-3). Using foil you get the above equation, if you need to check your answer.
Just in case: FOIL is multiply front, outside, inside, and last.

it has no solutions.u just solve the Delta prime(=36-45) and see its negative so it has no real(R) solutions.
