Reasons?
I am going to start one or the other and would like some opinions.

You may choose any but a comparison would not be meaningful.Yoga,literally means Union ie Union of mind and body and there are not many other ways of doing it.If the stress if on the physical,then Yoga may not be the right answer. Incidentally,yoga is not mutually exclusive with any other system.Even if you go for pilates,yoga can not only compliment it but also be an excellent supplement and an enhancer in attaining your goals.Unfortunately,not many practitioners in the west realize the in depth benefits of yoga in our lives.Beliefs or religion etc has nothing to do with Yoga.Good luck.

I take a "pilates on the ball" class. Its pilates done on one of the big exericize balls and it really adds something extra beyond regular pilates. I have done yoga, too, and I think I lost more weight as well as became more tightened and flexible with pilates than yoga. Pilates is a more energetic work out to me, so thats why I like it more.

pilates is like yoga just faster and more harsh movement

Pilates is funner... yoga is boring to me and i think pilates is more beneficial

yoga is good for relaxing and streatching
but pilates is more for working out and excersizing.

it just depends on wat your lookin 4.
