Why is it when upon meeting someone new and them learning that my child is autistic, the first words from their mouths are "Oh, I'm sorry"?

This is the case about 90% of the time. Why is this said without any further knowledge of me or my child? We don't need or desire pity. What compells people to assume we do?

To me - the root of the problem is our society's view of autistics and any diabled person in general.

Does anyone else think the stigma is kept alive and well by some of the larger organizations who claim to be the voice of our children? These organizations are notorious for portraying autism in the most pitiful light and rarely focus on the positives. They characterize our children as puzzles and as having bleak futures. Then they tug on society's heartstrings with these portrayals so they can raise more money to further their own agendas.

I hope a day will come soon when people will value and respect autistics and all disabled persons. Anyone else?

I want to put up a barrier on a small section of my property. It would be approximately 7 feet long and 4 feet tall. It's such a small space that it doesn't seem worth it to dig two fence post holes for a wood fence panel.

Is there any way to make a brick wall work without having it fall over because of not being attached to a frame, like it would be for a house?

Maybe if I do two straight rows instead of one? Or maybe if I make the wall more of a diamond shape, with those two rows? Maybe even just more of a triangle shape with one row, instead of completely straight?

I'm not looking for a major strong wall that could withstand a tornado or anything. Just something to keep the dogs from getting out in that particular spot. But of course I don't want it to fall down at the first slight breeze.

I'm just trying to keep this as simple as possible. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Lisa.

I think that the answer would be C. The poster of the question argues that it is B. My opinion is that B is way to harsh.

I live in Oregon.

What is the legal limit (percentage) that I can be charged in interest?

If I have signed a contract that does NOT mention the charging of interest if the invoice becomes overdue, however it IS mentioned on all overdue invoices that I receive, do I still have to pay the added interest, or am I void from having to pay it because it was not mentioned in the original contract?

My home ec teacher is moving the Texas to be by her granddaugher and this year she helped me and my friend tremendously by teaching us how to sew and helped finish projects that we should ahve never started (a prom dress and a pirate coat that we started in February and ended this month!) Baseball fans unite, do what it takes to keep Barry Bonds out of the starting lineup for the all-star game. After all the crap he has put baseball through, why do fans keep voting for him? Before the most recent numbers, Bondsy was third in voting. Alfonso Soriano has recently passed him by a small margin, and as a Cub fan, I want him to get the spot....but vote for anybody to help Bonds fall.

ok so yeah. they found another 200 and something planets out in space. little by little were (as humans) making the universe smaller and smaller. do u guys think in SAY 1 million years US as humans will have started to populate those planets. i for one think we will.
