My home ec teacher is moving the Texas to be by her granddaugher and this year she helped me and my friend tremendously by teaching us how to sew and helped finish projects that we should ahve never started (a prom dress and a pirate coat that we started in February and ended this month!) And now she's moving away so that limits the size of what we can give her. I need ideas and that's where you come in! Thanks!

Write a letter from the both of you. That will be more important than any gift. My mother was a teacher for 25+ years, and though she hated getting mugs or flowers. But when former students would tell her how much she had helped them, she'd practically cry. (In that good way.) That says more than a $5 coffee mug.

The ideas of parties, mug gifts (why do you think my nick includes "mugs"?), notes, letters of appreciation, are all great ideas. If you and your friend(s) are insistant upon giving her a "real" gift, try a gift card from a large chain store, i.e. Wal-Mart, K-Mart, etc. They are extremely portable, and the lady can choose from a host of products that can suit her needs or whims.

Good luck and it's so great to know such teachers are out there, AND that you appreciate them! More power to you!

Do you know if she has any hobbies?? You could get her something that has to do with her hobby(ies). Or, if you know what type of food or even what restaurant she likes, you could get her a gift card to a restaurant.

I'm sure whatever it is you get her, she will be tremendously thankful...I don't think many people thank their teachers these days, and it's very thoughtful of you to do so!!!

Write her a note explaining how much you appreciate her help. Teachers get presents all the time, but they rarely get thanks. Plus, gifts could be awkward if they seem too personal.
