Religion is to peaceful tranquility as Atheist is to____

A) Complete anarchy
B) Decay of society
C) Symbolic moral boundary
D) Other

I think that the answer would be C. The poster of the question argues that it is B. My opinion is that B is way to harsh.
What do you think? If your answer is D what does "other" mean to you?

I don't know, we should instead focus on people with mustaches. I think we will have the same results.

lol religion is not all about peace and tranquility. People wanting it to be so does not eradicate the countless examples proving otherwise.

In that case, since the first is so completely untrue, I say B is the closest equivalent. Religion is to peaceful tranquility as atheism is to the decay of society. Both are false but equal.

I would have to differ with the analogy of religion = peaceful tranquility. Since I don't believe that's the case, I can't accurately answer the second part.

I think the question is worded in a way to cause discord, and to cast atheists as inherently bad .

"As far back as 1772, d'Holbach said that "All children are born Atheists"

isn't that an interesting consideration........

so while I cannot support your premise that religion always brings peaceful tranquility, I would offer that "atheist" could be likened to innocence, purity, freedom. Not so bad, really.

We could be talking about the absence of a particular conditioning, where the individual has put aside the need for a father figure, and is claiming self-responsibility. Also not so bad......

( my not so bad's are understatements, thought I should mention since you can't see my smile)

According to the analogy you set up, the answer is certainly D. Allow me to explain:
In order to solve an analogy, we must define the relationship between the analogous items, therefore, we must construct a sentance that clearly describes the relationship between religion and peaceful tranquility.
Religion is responsible for more violence and bloodshed in the world than any other single factor. I am not trying to stir people up here, that is just fact. More wars and violent conflicts have their basis in religion than in politics, land disputes, culture or any other factor. Therefore, a correct and factual statement joining the two would be:

Religion leads to the opposite of peaceful tranquility.

Now to solve the analogy, we plug athesim into that sentence in the place of religion. (I use atheism instead of atheist because you cannot draw an analogy between a person and a belief structure, so the correct analogy would be Religion to Atheism).

What we have is:
Atheism leads to the opposite of_________. So what is the opposite of Atheism? Why, fanatical belief in god, of course, so the answer to your analogy is:

Religion is to peaceful tranqility as atheism is to religious fanaticism.

You are a "teacher" and you equate religion with peaceful tranquility? Have you been reading the posts of your religious brothers? Are you telling me that the war that is currently going on doesn't have a religious conflict element to it? How about this teacher...

religion is to quest for power as religious followers are to complete denial. Learn anything?

Do you have a split personality or something? Aren't you the poster of thsi question?

How can you have two different answers?

Only someone utterly ignorant of history and current events would equate religion to peace and tranquility.

But teacher, how do you get past the initial comparison (which is incidentally redundant)? What could possibly be the relation between "religion" and "peaceful tranquility?" It's like saying, "Noise is to paint, as nails are to __."

D. Religion is to peaceful tranquility as atheism is to a religious fundy mentality: polar opposites.

Religion is NOT to peaceful tranquility, so the rest of your analogy crumbles.

All you're trying to do - and failing - is to display your own superiority as you see it. We get it - religious people good, atheists bad. I have to laugh when I hear "Christians" make the argument that atheism will lead to the downfall of society. It sounds similar to what they say about legitimate science, or gay people...lol. They like to tar all their opponents with the same brush.
