I just wanted to get a General Opinion. Genetics aside, Do you think it could be resonably argued (maybe even regardless of genetics) that since the parents control: what comes into the house (after all the parents {legal guardians} are the ones buying the food ), {for the most part}, eating habits, how the food is prepared, food guidelines (i.e limitations, portion control), outside play time (i.e. the child getting exercise, being active) etc.. so if the child is overweight, it's the parents to blame. If it's not their responsibility then who's is it? Aren't the parents the one who should to put their foot down and say "no, that's enough". I'm not saying be calorie commando on the kids, but making sure they have a balanced meal, isn't that the parent's responsibility? I'm speaking mostly on younger kids. Just wanted see what other people thought on this touchy subject. Thanks

I'm really worried about one of my best friends. A few days ago she went out with a guy she's known for a while. He was quite pushy and they started doing stuff, but she explained that she didn't want to go all the way. He said that was fine and he wouldn't push her. He then asked her to turn around. She was wary but trusted him not to have sex with her and did as he said. He then had sex with her. She was very shocked but told me that once he'd started she felt the damage had been done and that even if she made him stop, she would still have had sex with him. So she didn't stop him and afterwards just went home. She's really upset about this but adament that she wasn't raped because she didn't stop him. I'm not sure because she didn't give her consent. It's difficult to talk to her about it because she gets hysterical, saying she refuses to be a victim. I love her so much and hate to see her like this. What do you think?

DVD movies have different languages, subtitles, deleted scenes, interviews and loads of other features. Here's an idea and I can't believe this hasn't been implemented. There are many good films that I am comfortable letting my kids watch except there are some curse words that I'd rather they not hear. So it would be really simple just to have a bad language suppress setting (or even just a bleep). I think this should be a standard feature on all DVD movies. What do you think?

Most people would probably think that Snape is terrible, evil, and a death eater. But what if he isn't? And also, I wonder if there's a possibility Snape loved Lily, therefore he hated Harry, because he was James's son, not his own.

I can't help feel broken. I've had my world crash in on me this past week and everything that was normal and secure has ended. Now, we are dealing with financial problems and worrying whether we are going to get past this. I am helpless in this because I can't work, I have two kids and no daycare or family to watch them. Plus the job my husband just got leaves him on call so I can't help but be supportive. But how do you heal your broken spirit when you can't even heal your family?

[edit] Prefertilization effects
The combined Pill primarily prevents pregnancy by preventing ovulation. In women who take the pills correctly, ovulation is prevented in 98-99% of cycles. Forgetting to take one or more pills increases ovulation rates; one study found skipping two pills in a row resulted in ovulation in 29% of cycles.[46] (In women not taking the Pill, pregnancy occurs in approximately 25% of ovulatory cycles.)[47]

In the event of breakthrough ovulation, secondary contraceptive mechanisms are believed to come into play. Proposed secondary mechanisms active before fertilization include thickening of cervical mucus, which can prevent or slow sperm entry into the uterus, and changes in tube transport inhibiting sperm migration to the fallopian tubes.[48]

[edit] Postfertilization effects
Mechanisms that act after fertilization are controversial; according to those who define pregnancy as beginning at fertilization such mechanisms make the method abortifacient.

Jesus says this in the bible...

Luke 14:26
If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters—yes, even his own life—he cannot be my disciple.

We live in an apartment complex w/ four apartments per building. . The neighbor couple are in their 40's, drunks, drug addicts, and loud party people. I have told them six times to please keep it down, (music so loud at 1 am that wakes my 2 yr old and at 5:45 am also). They always say they will keep it quiet. The other three neighbors in this complex have told him more than 6 times to keep it down. The cops get called and tell them to be quiet and they say they will. But it never happens. This month the landlord served him a cease and desist letter after all tenants complained. It only made him angry, louder, and abusive. He now harasses us and calls us all snitches. Got in my husbands face. Now pushes it just enough to be legal but still harassing. Not from georgia and do not know the rental laws here.

I'm seeing this everywhere, one of the main stereotypes of Britons is that we don't wash or clean our teeth. For most of us if we found out someone didn't do these things on a daily basis we would be completely disgusted! This is why I dont understand could someone enlighten me?

p.s. i know we dont have the straighest teeth ever but thats genes not dental hygiene, and we get dental treatment free on the NHS so wouldnt that mean we have better dental hygiene?

I'm looking for something new to drink at a bar. Something that most places would have. I'm kinda bored with what I've been drinking lately. Beer is good. Hard alcohol is good. I usually get Bloody Marys, Vodka/Redbulls, or just beer. Any suggestions?? (I'm not into any frozen/fruity drinks). Thanks!!

A Christian just typed this in an answer to another question. "We all sin, but the only difference, is that when we sin, we are supposed to take responsibility for our actions and apologize to those we've hurt. "

So...um, what do we nonbelievers DO after we've hurt someone? I've always taken responsibility for my actions and apologized, but apparently that's what sets Christians apart from others.

So what do you do? I really missed the boat on this one!
