If your national pride is weakened by who sits in the oval office, you do not deserve to be my countryman!

“Americanism” is not based on a politician or government. It’s pride in who you are and pride in being an American. Presidents and politics come and go but it is the American spirit that really keeps us going. If you let one person ruin that for you then your American spirit is not very strong.

You have to also realize that the world is bigger than just the United States and we have to share that. I am all for buying American and being American but we can’t just keep everything within our borders. All of us are immigrants – not many of our families originated in the United States.

If by invasion your are talking about Iraq then I don’t agree with you. We are over there for a purpose, maybe not the original purpose, but we are doing good things over there. Despite what garbage the media feeds to us, most people are happy we are over there. We are working to help them establish a government much like our own. I think sometimes people forget what it took to get the United States to a democratic society and that it was not easy and we didn’t have thousands of years worth of civil wars to overcome when we did it.

I am proud to be American, I am proud of what we stand for and I am proud of our men and women overseas protecting our freedoms and helping others to experience those freedoms too.

we leave the mass killings and invasions to other countries, such as most countries in Africa and the Muslim world.

of COURSE I have pride in America! how can i NOT? we are the greatest nation in the world. this isn't an arrogant statement, its simple fact. Where else in the world can you say what you want, do what you want, EARN what you want, and be as successful as you want??? Everyone wants to be like us, everyone wants to come here. Sure, we are not perfect- what country is? EVERY country has its problems... but why would my pride or patriotism waver, for even 1 minute, because i might not like my President? the two are mutually exclusive.

If your children embarrass you, do you not still love them???

The idea of the "American dream" is over and done with IMO. People in other countries may still think that by moving here they will make money, which is true to a certain extent, but it is not like the "American dream" that was exported during the industrial revolution to all the immigrants coming over here. If anything, our actions since 9/11 may have encouraged people in other countries to take pride in their own culture and focus on making it in their native lands since we look like a bunch of ignorant isolationist-nationalists.

Our greatest export should be aid to other countries. Since we sit here and consider ourselves the #1 world power, it's only fit that we take the lead in reaching out to others and set an example for additional countries to follow.

Instead, Bush and his cohorts saw fit to put up walls and hole up in Washington while messing up other people's countries claiming that we are somehow going to make it all better by forcing our beliefs on them.

Some pride I guess. The problem is that we have a good thing and I think this war in Iraq is ruining it. Our international opinion is lower than Bush's approval ratings. This will matter if we are ever attacked, not by individuals, but by a real country. You can't piss everyone else off, then say who other than England will come to my defense. We have no allies close enough or strong enough to matter. England can be taken out by several countries in Europe.

I have always been proud and fortunate to be an American. Anyone who is not might benefit from seeing what is going on in countries such as N. Korea. As for the American Dream, it is alive and well - witness the immigrants.

I am PROUD of my country!

We are the BEST in the world!!! And Bush has done his best to keep it that way!

Our brave men and women are over seas trying to give others the right to feel pride in THEIR country!

If you do not like it here..no one says you have to stay. I hear there is getting to be quite a bit of room in Mexico now...and France is always open to the unpatriotic

Regardless of what that jackass does I am still proud to be an American. It will take more than George W. Bush and his failed Administration to turn me off to America.
