I find a hillside of wind turbines one of the most graceful, inspiring things I've ever seen. I think they're overwhelmingly beautiful not just because of their size and grace but because along with those qualities, they may help us save our world (not to be trite, but every little bit helps!)

My parents, on the other hand, who I always thought were environmentally concious and not hypocrites, have a "not in our area" view about them. They've just retired to a nearly-100 acre farm nestled in a valley surrounded by wooded mountains. Yes, it is idyllic, but it would also be a perfect place for wind harvesting. It's so windy there that they have to tie their porch furniture down! BUT they're ready to fight tooth and nail if someone tries to put a turbine anywhere NEAR their property. Even if it's not in their view! They claim it makes a lot of noise, kills birds, and will lower their property value.

I'm upset they feel this way. How much of this is true? What are your thoughts?

We've been separated over a year, but always "working on it" b/c we both still really love and care for each other. Tough b/c last 6 months in different cities b/c of work. There are lots of issues that I can still see solving if we both agree to really work at it.

But my main concern has always been that no matter how close our hearts are, our minds are far apart. Often, he can't understand what's interesting to me - books I read, films I watch, writing I do. He loves sports TV. I have part of a master's degree - he never finished college. I'm a grammar freak and he ... isn't. But we DO have fun at movies, restaurants, sports, and traveling.

Even now, we haven't gone to other people, but I always worried that if I met someone more compatible, I would be tempted.

Basically, this is something I don't see how he can fix, so if our marriage is to have a chance, I have to accept him "as is." Anyone have experience in how to do this? Married to someone with a different language even?

With all due respect to the Scots, Welsh and Northern Irish do you think England should seek some form of independence from the other home nations. I'm not suggesting giving independence to Scotland etc thats a different issue, i'm saying should we cut loose from the rest of the UK. The other home nations are getting louder shouting for independence and i for one fully agree with that right but an Independent England? Tell me your point of view based on what part of the UK you live in. Scotland, Wales and N.I. could all stay together if they so wished, this is about England.

I know there are exceptions to the increase, but I am specifically referring to my mother who works in a supermarket making a little over 6.00/hour.

Her supervisor said that new employees will eventually be hired in at the increased level, but current employees will remain at the pay level they are at now and won't be automatically increased when the law goes into effect.

That doesn't seem fair to workers like my mother and I'm wondering if what the supervisor says is the truth. Any idea?

My mother and I are going to my cousin's bridal shower, and my mom wanted to split the cost of one of the nicer gifts on the registry with me. Is it okay if we give a gift together, or should she receive a seperate gift from both of us? I'm only 18 if that matters at all.

The very first ever Blonde GUY joke..... And well worth the wait!

An Irishman , a Mexican and a Blonde Guy were doing construction work
On scaffolding on the 20th floor of a building.

They were eating lunch and the Irishman said, "Corned beef and
cabbage! If I get corned beef and cabbage one more time for lunch, I'm going to jump off this building."

The Mexican! opened his lunch box and exclaimed,"Burritos again! If I get burritos one more time I'm going to jump off, too."

The blonde opened his lunch and said, " Bologna again! If I get a bologna sandwich one more time, I'm jumping too."

The next day, the Irishman opened his lunch box, saw corned beef and
cabbage, and jumped to his death. The Mexican opened his lunch, saw a burrito, and jumped, too. The blonde guy opened his lunch, saw the bologna and jumped to his death as well.

At the funeral, the Irishman's wife was weeping. She said, "If I'd
Known how really tired he was of corned beef and cabbage, I never would have given it to him again!"

The Mexican's wife also wept and said, "I could have given him tacos
or enchiladas! I didn't realize he hated burritos so much."

(Oh this is GOOD!!)

Everyone turned and stared at the blonde's wife. The blonde's wife
said, "Don't look at me. The idiot makes his own lunch."
