I have a 10 month old who is sick with the common cold I guess. Just a clear runny nose and kinda stuffy. Nose drops havent worked...what kind of medicine can I give him to help him get over it faster?

No medicine will help him get over it faster, His body has to do that by itself. In fact, some cold medicines that adults take for the symptoms have been found to be dangerous for babies. Instead, you want to do things to boost his immune system. If you breastfeed, that may help. Make sure he gets plenty of rest, and that he eats a balanced meal.

Nose drops will not shorten or get rid of the cold but will help him to breathe. But I know lots of babies hate this, it always made my daughter cry more, then she would get even more stuffed. Elevate his head when he sleeps to help him breathe better.

Also if it seems like he always has a cold, it might be something else like allergies (since the runny nose is clear this is possible)- in this case call the doctor they may have other suggestions.

A common cold is a virus. No medicine is going to help him "get over it" sooner. You can treat the symptons he's having, such as a stuffy nose or cough. You cannot cure the common cold with medicine. If your child is comfortable and the cold doesn't seem to be bothering him too much, I would just let him be. No need to medicate a child if it's not necessary.

You can run a vaporizer in his room at night. That helps keep the air moist. If he's stuffy, you can use some children's Vick's vapor rub. Give him plenty of fluids. Let the cold run it's course.

The worst thing to do is feed the baby when its laying down you should hold the baby or elevate his head that will take off some of the pressure and pain. If the baby is throwing up everything give him fluids remember elevate or sit the baby up. Try warm broth or chicken noddle soup. They have some with tiny stars in it very easy to swallow. Crackers or rice nothing greasy or to heavy Pedialyte for sure! I hope this helps. Take a hand full of dry rice or instant and boil till soft take broth or the broth from any other canned soup and feed it to the baby it should help. No milk right now but if the baby will drink that then give it to them. Count your wet diapers you want to make sure you have at least four to five okay. If by tomorrow the baby is still throwing up take him back to the doctor. ( I've been here before I have a 6 year old) May the lord speed your babies recovery ( I hope I didn't offend you with that small prayer if I did sorry)

My son had what I thought was an ongoing cold at 10 months old and it was allergies. My doctor prescribed 1/4 teaspoon of children's Benadryl and it worked wonders. He said it also works for clearing up symptoms of the common cold. His was mostly a runny nose also. Good Luck!

When my son was 7 months he got a real bad cold, I called my pediatrician and I was told to give him plenty of fluids and triamenic cold for babies. Just the minimal dosage is all you need. It is a cold, it's still going to take a while to go away but that should help with the congested nose and what not.

There's no medicine that will help him get over it faster only those that will treat the symptoms.

If you are worried about making him comfortable, you can also try sitting with him in a steamy room. This will help with the stuffy nose.

You have to let this run it's course. You can treat the symptoms though. Use a bulb syringe to get anything out of his nose. Put a pillow UNDER his mattress to help with drainage and use a humidifier.

It may be allergies. Ask your doctor what you should try and give it a few days ,if it doesn't help, stop use. Try running a vaporizer at night. :)
