I've been noticing more appeals for Christian men to act more "manly" over the past ten years or so, and now it seems to be reaching a fever pitch. I just heard of this tonight. A literal "church for men"!

http://atheism.about.com/b/a/258942.htm

I would love to read what others, particularly practicing Christians, think of this phenomenon. I know it's been a while since I went to church, but what happened to "there is no male or female, no Jew or Greek, no slave or free..."?

I did some research on the mainstream religions for a paper due in my class. I became interested in the not so mainstream Christian sects. I did some research on Mormons and JW's and saw that named John Smith spoke to God and that the book of Mormon is actually credible.

Jehovah’s Witnesses had an even more laughable history, one of their prophecies were based on the study of pyramids by some man named Charles Russell. As the years went on, their prophesies changed a million times along with their doctrines. Their bible was made by people with no formal education in Greek. They added words just to make the scriptures fit their doctrines. Sadly they once banned organ transplants so people died for no reason because now they allow it. I can't believe some people could be so blind! I don't believe in any of the mainstream religions but heck that is really bad!

Truth is there is only one thing that atheists have in common - that is the belief that God does not exist.

There are no other 'rules' to being atheist. Some believe in science, some don't. Some believe in spirits, afterlives etc.

I am just sick of people saying, "atheists believe in science" or something to that effect, because you can't speak for all atheists because we all have widely varying beliefs.

Some of those with the most powerful testimony for Christ are those who were not raised as Christians, but who were instead led to God though an overwhelming experience in their life. I feel that there may be a number of non-believers who visit this forum seeking a reason to believe....people who are, perhaps, disillusioned by the mean-spirited sniping in so many posts. They may not be looking for explanations of doctrine, so much as an honest, personal explanation of how God works in people's lives.

So, please share your story....how did God get ahold of your heart?
