breast reduction for 38G?

Question

any ladies had a breast reduction? I'm 19 and weigh 170 and I'm 5'3''.....but my breasts are a 38G. I'm thinking about getting a reduction to releave pain and tension in my back and shoulders but I'm nervouse and would like to hear some other ladies experience in this matter...is it really all that painful? do you notice the difference right away? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

We have almost the exact same body it sounds like. I'm 27, 170, 5' 3" (although I work out religiously) and used to be a 36DDD.

I had a breast reduction the summer between my junior and senior years of high school. It was the best decision I ever made. Changed my body and changed my outlook on it. I used to have droopy boobies with tissue even under my arms into my armpits (imagine one big tire around my chest). Now, perky, perky, perky. I. LOVE .My. Boobs. I do. Seriously. (I paid enough, I ought to.) I could tell they were smaller the moment I got into the recovery room and looked down. Poof.

Downside: painful--yes. I've given birth twice and the reduction was right up there with that. Meds help but it's still a long recovery. Something to prepare yourself for.

I couldn't breastfeed, also, because they took out so much tissue (I went from a 36DDD to a 36C.) Don't listen to lactation nurses telling you that you can. Most women can't.

I also have long scars under each breast and around the areola. They have since faded in the 11 years since the surgery.

I also have weird nipple sensation. Sometimes they're very sensitive, sometimes not at all.

Still, I would do it again tomorrow if I had to. Best decision I ever made. I've since gained some weight (I'm 170 now, but was 155 during the time of the surgery). Still my breasts are perky, perky, perky. Just a little fuller. (Can you tell I love my boobies?) I can still walk around without a bra on and my nipples point straight ahead.

Only you can make the decision that is right for you but I've never regretted my decision once. I am so happy with the results.

I have a friend who got a reduction. You kind of have to work the system. Ask your doctor to write-up the problems your chest is causing you...back pain, muscle strain, etc. You often need to prove your large size is causing you problems, I don't think they'll just approve it without any secondary medical problems. If you haven't already seen a surgeon about the reduction, maybe call his office and ask for some help in getting insurance to approve. Sad to say, but you do have to work the system. Good luck!

I was a 38J and got a breast reduction in Feb 2006. Insurance covered my costs 100% (some will cover between 50-100%).

I personally was in NO pain but I do know women who have been in pain. They prescribe you painkillers so you should be good.

I noticed NO PAIN as soon as I was awake after surgery. I kid you not!

The key word with this surgery is patience. It takes a year for you to get to your final size and have the scars fade. As soon as the incisions are closed you can put some scar fading creams on them and massage them daily to lessen the look of scars (frankly I'll take scars over back pain anyday!).

Of course you notice a difference right away when pounds and inches of boobs are gone
Its painful after surgery, pain medications help
