Some of those with the most powerful testimony for Christ are those who were not raised as Christians, but who were instead led to God though an overwhelming experience in their life. I feel that there may be a number of non-believers who visit this forum seeking a reason to believe....people who are, perhaps, disillusioned by the mean-spirited sniping in so many posts. They may not be looking for explanations of doctrine, so much as an honest, personal explanation of how God works in people's lives.

So, please share your story....how did God get ahold of your heart?

I'm not a Christian, but I just wanted to commend you for asking a really terrific question. This is the sort of query I'd like to see more frequently in R&S.

It's not my story to tell, and I don't have all the details to make it a good one, but one of my friends recently decided to become a Christian. He will be baptized on Easter Sunday. From our discussions, I've gathered that recent economic difficulties and health problems have been weighing heavily on his shoulders and he feels the need to have a strong ally who can ease his burdens. I fear he's going to be disappointed, but it's not my choice to make. As a Humanist and Unitarian Universalist, I respect his choice to set out upon whatever path calls to him, and I'll be there on Sunday to support him and take photos.

As a former christian, god has brought many members of my family together when they used to be estranged. They have formed new bonds because of god. As an agnostic, I don't believe that god has done anything to my family members that they didn't do on their own. They surrendered to a common belief in order to find a similar interest in order to bond with others. They can say it was god, but that's just an excuse because for some odd reason they can't take credit for their own actions.

I have no wonderful story like many people that I have had the opportunity to have met over the years. My parents were Christians, and my father made it a point to share with me the Bible, and saw to it that I was in church every Sunday, unless I was to sick to go any where. His prayers for me, the testimony of what I found in the Bible, and the world around me led me to God, and to Jesus. There was also the ministry of a very wonderful Pastor who was very scholarly in the way he approached his ministry.

I was continually all my life longing for something inside of me. No matter what I tried, the longing was still there. The 'thirst', if you will, was always there. God showed himself to me many times within the last 5 years to get me to the point I am now. My exhusband had shotguns, pistols, any kind of weapon you can think of to try to keep me in bondage and to kill me. I prayed to God and He delivered me from the snare of the fowler. To try to put all, or even half, of what God has done for me here is impossible. The most God has done for me is that He saved me. God cares for us just as we care for our own children. He only wants us to give Him a chance to prove it. May God Bless U.

My husband a former atheist and now a Christian (going on 8 years now), said it felt like God whacked him up side the head and he heard Him say this is how things are going to be.From that day one he knows God exists and is very very real.

God reached me through His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus answered my pleas for help at an impossible time in my life.

He gave me a second chance and saved me.

I have been searching for the religion that I feel most connected with for sometime now, and therefore have been studying various faiths, and to tell the truth the more I learn about God & Jesus Based religion the more absurd and evil I actually find them to be... sorry to offend anyone who is a believer but I just can't wrap my head around your faith, it obviously isn't the one for me....
