I've been noticing more appeals for Christian men to act more "manly" over the past ten years or so, and now it seems to be reaching a fever pitch. I just heard of this tonight. A literal "church for men"!

I would love to read what others, particularly practicing Christians, think of this phenomenon. I know it's been a while since I went to church, but what happened to "there is no male or female, no Jew or Greek, no slave or free..."?

It challenges the patriarchial nature of Christianity. .

Some people need a lot of direction in their lives because they are unable or unwilling to think for themselves as an individual human being.

Change can be frightening and uncomfortable. That is why people cling to and are nostalgic for "the way things used to be".

I think the church for men idea is a little over the top. I have heard about the call for men to act as men and not be ashamed of what they are by nature. the focus is more to help men feel part of the church again, not as if they are more flawed than the women, just by virtue of their natural bent. ie...they point out that men are created with different strengths than women and that both men and women have something vital to contribute to the church. Men should not be ashamed to be bold, strong and stand firm for what they know to be right even in the face of disapproval or opposition. They are encouraged to speak the truth, in love, but not be timid.

Older Christian and Jewish religions alway held that women were given to man to love and nurture as a lesser being than he. Women were called his "help meet" and they had little to say or do in these older sects of religion.

The coming of equal rights had women demanding equality and allowed to take a more equal share of raising a family and providing for them. Many religions accepted this, but there have always been radical groups that want everything to remain the same.

As a Wiccan I can embrace the mysticism of a women being able to do something that no man can do and that is create a life and bring it to term with little help from man. It doesn't change how I feel about my having a closer relationship with the male deity in our religion because like he I am male too. But I see woman as being an important part in life and they should be respected and allowed to share their ideas equally.

I remember the Million Man March, where a male group was teaching men to take a more important role in their families lives. I don't remember if it was started by African Americans, but it was meant to change the cultural stigma that AA men didn't take a stronger stand in the family and that the AA culture was becoming Grandmatriarchal which was a stereotype as crude as blacks liking watermelon. Historically, AAs brought to this country and sold as slaves were treated little better than animals so a male was a stud and a young female made lots of money for her master by having child after child. Once the woman gave birth she returned to her duties and an older woman who might have gotten to old to serve properly would care for the babies. This stereotype was carried on as long as people chose to believe it and many say it destroyed to concept of a normal family unit.

I hope this tells you something.

Well, I think there are plenty of men in the Christian church who are great heads of the household. Their wife and kids respect him also.

The reason Muslim women don't dress like Western "worldly" women, do drugs or have sex outside of marriage is because they will be killed or publicly humiliated or both if they do. Besides who wants that kind of life anyway.

I personally believe that once a woman becomes a Christian, the Holy Spirit will convict her about her clothes selection. It did for me. I don't see too many Christian women not being modest if they have had a true conversion.

Maybe the Muslim men just want to rule over their women and men like that power. It is just a way of life with them.

We Christians walk side by side in our relationship.

"Feminized Christianity" is a major problem, look at how many families have broken apart because of the confusion of gender roles in society. A lot of men don't know how to act like men because women are now expected to act like the man in the relationship and in society. The result is growing rates of divorces and growing rates of homosexuality and confused gender roles.

Jesus was the ultimate role model for a man. He was not effeminate at all. When Jesus saw that people had made the Temple into a den of thieves, Jesus made a whip out of cords and drove the merchants and money changers out of His Father's house.

The thing about there are no males and no females was in reference to Baptism. It means that men and women can be Baptized to enter in to the New Covenant. This is unlike the practice of the Old Covenant where only the male child was circumcised.

Baptism takes the place of circumcision. And with Baptism, men and women can be Baptized.

It's not saying that there is no difference between men and women because common sense tells us the the two are not the same. That's why it's called the opposite sex.

fantastic question. Leah is partly maximum suitable and on the main suitable music however the bigger situation arises whilst basically one discern is a provider. In that difficulty a field try will by no potential artwork and the breeder has in basic terms accomplished greater to harm their breed by potential of passing on a mutation 50% of the time without threat of detecting it. it is very genuine of everyday sires who're used very many times and/ or by potential of use of synthetic insemination the place their genes are disseminated in an quite severe frequency between something of the inhabitants. "field" sorting out is likewise in specific cases talked approximately as "try" matings. it is an quite damaging and unacceptable technique for figuring out inherited issues even formerly there have been any DNA assessments available. Breeders will by no potential do away with inherited ailments with try matings for the easy reason that there are maximum of mutations and... you could not continuously perceive people who're distributors. additionally, if a provider to provider try mating occurs then the probability of producing an affected animal is 25% so the prospect nevertheless exists that an affected is in basic terms not made out of each and every mating, to not point out by potential of that factor it fairly is too late... so why blindly mate without understanding no count if a mutation exists with the potential for propagating greater of the comparable issue? this may well be a silly attitude particularly now whilst there are maximum of DNA assessments and well being displays available. the issue isn't basically with the difficulty "what if the two mom and dad are distributors of a recessive disease" yet greater so "what if basically one discern is a provider." this is whilst the issue keeps to pass undetected.

"Feminized" Christianity has led to a number of abuses, not the least of which is the extreme shortage of the type of real and authentic modern male "heroes" like those we read about in the Bible, and the lack of corresponding heroic acts, in favor of things like advertising campaigns, bishop's conferences, united councils of churches, and even duplicitous male TV evangelists.

There's nothing at all wrong with women, or with true Christian feminism ... which is what the Blessed Virgin Mary, Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska, Mother Teresa, and many other good Christian women most certainly practiced, and continue to practice.

What's wrong is men acting like women, while women continue to act like women, as well.

Without both genders fully functioning, and properly performing their own distinctive roles, it just doesn't work, and the standing of the church in today's world reflects that basic weakness.

I'm not going to read what the articles say and I don't care what others say because folks like Dr. Laura or whomever twist it to sell more advertising. The reason "the church," the Catholic church, at any rate, wants men to be men is because they see many of societies problems as a result of the degradation of male roles - men don't get jobs, they aren't doing their part - they don't only believe that women being forced into roles of greater responsibility (which is not a bad thing if it's not out of necessity) help men shirk their traditional Christian responsibilities. It can be seen as misogynistic or homophobic, but the issue that the Catholic church is responsible for adressing regards responsibility.

Why would women want to be part of a church that didn't recognize their equality to begin with.... It takes nothing to just walk away from a religion..... I wonder how the christians are gonna justify "their god never changes" now that females and gays are on the pulpit.... all religions are cults worshiping some human male point of view..... JUST WALK AWAY PEOPLE
