Why is everyone having such a problem with Oprah Winfrey opening those schools in South Africa?

I understand about the children in need here, but she is one person who has done plenty here also. She did have a small community built for the some of the Katrina victims, I believe it's called Angel square. Not to mention the fact that she does have a valid point about our children (and I do mean 'our'),wanting more material things than knowledge. Not all but enough. Maybe she's trying to get the ball rolling. Start a competition even. That's how we seem to work. She does this over there and someone tries to show her up here. Hey, whatever works....as long as the children (all over) benefit in the long run. What do you think?

Why would your God allow for there to be a hell?

If you follow a god that says you will go to hell if you do not seek him with all your heart then what makes him so great?
Wouldnt you want a God who would take care of the problem people instead of casting the problem people into hell.

Why is it that so-called Christians seem to ignore the teachings of the person their religion is based on?

It seems that so-called Christians will go out of their way to ignore Christ's teachings and pick and choose verses out of the Old Testament to fit their agendas (gay bashing, demeaning other religious beliefs, etc.). They would be wise paying attention to his words, like "Turn the other cheek", "Love thy neighbor as yourself", and the biggee, "Ye who is without sin, cast the first stone!" And this is from a former Christian who now follows the Wiccan religion because I got sick of all the hypocrisy.

We are filing taxes jointly. My wife's employer has retirement benefits, but she could not avail it until 2007

My wife got her SSN only in Jan07 even though she started working in Nov 06(with a dummy SSN). Without an SSN, a retirement a/c could not be opened and hence she could not contribute in 2006. In that case, will she be eligible for an IRA investment for 2006? Our AGI (filing jointly)is less than the prescribed limits and is eligible for an IRA.

We would appreciate a clear response.

I plan to date again since 12 years ago. Does the guy pay for ever thing the movie and dinner?

I know times are tuff now and maybe men cannot afford to take a lady out on a date. Is it ok for the lady to pay for part of the date. I would hate to think I owe him anything or he would expect something else in return. Maybe I would ofend him if I paid for part of the date, Is paying for some of the date expense telling him that it is only friendship and it is not going anywhere?

Why Jews and Jewish people ?

What are the difference between Jews and Jewish people, and why they are the most talked about RACE? I mean is it a religious group or the race? This guy lives 20 minutes from me and wants to go out with me...?

There is a guy who lives 20-25mins from me, I've known him for over a year now and he's been wanting to go out with me since like the day we started talking. I met him through Myspace and it turned out that he was (still is) friends with this girl who I'm friends with too and known for 10 years!!!

Anyways, lately he's been texting me wanting to meet him because he really likes me and wants to be with me but thing is, I'm nevous about meeting him and I keep putting it off.

Is it normal to feel nervous like that? I mean, I've met guys from online before in person, but he's different and I'm just really nervous to go meet him, I like him a lot but he's just different...

Could it be that he's telling me he likes me and wants to be with me BEFORE we even meet? I don't know, I'm so confused, I keep putting off meeting him and I feel bad, what should I do?

Where can I find inexpensive pictures to decorate my apartment?

I just heard this on the radio . Somewhere in the USA , a man has been incarcerated for about a year , and may be for life. . . . . .. . . . . . .even though he has not been charged with a crime !!!!!

Now before you Constitution experts answer , you should know WHY .
He has a very rare and very contagious uncurable strain of Tuberculosis . He was previously ordered by the court, to wear a face mask(mouth and nose) when in public, so he wouldn't spread this deadly disease . He ignored the judge and therefore he was locked up .
