A Dane's- that's actually a common way to experience it. You and your lover. It's the experience in a small dose. I was talking to a friend about this earlier.

Terry, no one gives up individuality. If there is a class of students, they may be refered to as a class, they all make up the class, but they are still individuals.

Yes, and it seemed to require a few important adjustments on my part in order to become fully conscious of the underlying unity that has aways been there. First, I had to achieve unity within myself as a individual. Second, I had to learn to identify with 'others' not usually seen as related to me. Third, I had to relax my sense of separateness and allow myself to mentally join with others and hold that focus.
If we are able to make the connections, we find that we have something in common
with all that is.

This set of question and answers is reading as a "give up your individuality and identity and you'll have bliss as the ONE kind of thing. It's been around in science fiction books for years and it doesn't work out.

Humans like being individuals or they would never have evolved to the point where they can conceive of such experiments. Are y'all thinking of joining a master brain like little information cells the master can use or empty at his will.

I will probably answer this too practically...

I saw Unity at the end of 2004, right after the huge Tsunami. Everybody felt the urge to help, even kids went on the streets to collect money.

It was a horrible disaster, but in a way it was also beautiful to see how everybody on this planet was all of sudden Human, a part of Humanity.

I have experience the presence of God and being one with God for short periods of time. I have experience the sense that we are all one large family and in unity of spirit at a very deep level that most do not realize. I have been outdoors at a gathering of people and sensed the life energy that held us all together. It is a very peaceful feeling and one that makes me feel whole.

I have experienced a unity with my brothers/sisters as children of the almighty god that through our Lord Jesus Christ we may all overcome our trials here and become children of the one true father and enjoy each others company for the rest of eternity. Does this answer help any? Hope it did and have a nice day.

This is a major theme in many Asian religions... submerging one's sense of self into the universe. Native American spirituality refers to it differently, saying, "All things are connected," or "We are all related." I don't think this is really any different from simply experiencing an increased awareness of God's creation, and our place within it. And, yes, I have.

Yeah, right after my grandmother died, I was trying to make sense of it all and this sort of realization came into my head and gave me some peace.

Also, this is the sort of experience prince Arjuna has in the Bhagavad Gita, whne Krisha says to him that all the people arrayed in battle are basically one and the same, and destined to act in the roles they have carved out for themselves, and in fact already have.

Also, William James mentions this phenomenon in his book "The Varieties of Religious Experience".

Weird, isn't it?

Yes. It was very surreal. I felt as though I were the butterfly who could flap it's wings and cause a hurricane, and yet I had absolutely no desire to do so. It was incredibly peaceful.
