We read a lot about X servings of vegetables, and Y servings of fruit, and Z servings of chicken/fish, etc. But no matter how hard I look, I can't seem to get to the total number of servings of food we're supposed to eat in a day (on average). Every time I read about the gov'ts recommended calorie intake vs all the servings of this and that they say we should be eating, it seems to me that you can't fit the number of servings in to the recommended calorie intake. So, does anyone know what the total number of food servings per day that is recommended, and then of that total how many servings of vegetables, fruits, proteins, and grains?
