Wouldn't passing a law that prohibited the sale of puppies at stores make a huge impact in shutting down puppy mills? Why is this legal? You always hear politicans talking about animal rights, why don't they do something about it and make it illegal for stores to sell puppies??!! And, why, when shows like Dateline and 20/20 do undercover investigations of these puppy mills, don't they bring cops with them to shut them down, arrest and throw in jail the cold-hearted ******* that run them?? Obviously it's going to take more than telling people "don't buy a puppy at a pet store" for this madness to stop. For every person who decides to not buy from a store, there is always somebody who will. I just don't understand.....

Here is the deal.. I am a (part time) flooring sub-contractor who has been asked to redo the texture in a couple's (friends of mine) relatively small bathroom. Although I have done my fair share of drywall and texturing work (i.e I have the experience and tools), this job poses a different problem.

The problem pertains to the thick DIY texture that the couple put on the walls. Essentially, it looks as though joint compound was troweled on and swept at a thickness greater than 1/8th of an inch. Now, a few months and three coats of paint later - the texture job has cracked and apparently is not the look the couple is satisfied with.

The question at hand: Is sanding going to be the best option to prep the sheetrock? If so, are there any tested methods to keep the dust down? What would be the best type of sander (belt vs. orbital)?

I do not mind sanding - I just want to make sure this is the most cost effective solution.

Well I know that I don't want to burn regular wood, I hate the smell, and I don't want to smoke up my house, walls, etc.

I think I need to buy a gas log, but I've never used my fireplace in five years of owning my home. Theres a gas gauge, with a piece sticking out that looks like you screw something on to it, and I have a key beside the fireplace to turn on the gas. But thats all I know. Oh yeah, there's a rack to place wood? And a long silver piece with holes in it. I tried screwing it on to the area that needs to be screwed but it didn't fit.

Any help/advice would be appreciated.

I mean, come on. It is 2007, and ppl still haven't learned not to judge ppl b4 u know them. So many ppl I know are like, "Oh, she is evil cuz she practices wicca", "he is crazy b/c he is all about God", "She is black so she must like rap", "He he dresses emo so he must be a cutter". Even if all this is true, why does it matter? "I don't like gay ppl"- that makes me more angry than anything, when i hear that. Excuse me, but have u met every gay person in the world? Have u even sat down and got to know a gay person? What if i said "i don't like Jewish ppl", or "I don't like black ppl"- which isn't true at all, if i had said that i would be considered prejudice. Why can't everyone just get to know one another, get along, put aside their differences and have fun? Why must thousand and millions of ppl die just because they r different? I don't think i will ever understand.

Hello-

A little boy (age 6) was raped by an intruder at my son's school. I (as we all are) are devestated. My heart literally ached for him and his family. I do not know him by name, but I would like to offer some help. People keep saying his life is over ect... and I want to show him and his parents that he can and will lead a happy, productive life. I would like to contact a celebrity of some sort that the boy and his family might look up to who was sexually assaulted as a child to see if they would be willing to meet, write or speak with the family... if the family would approve. The only one I can think of is Oprah. Any other thoughts? Thank you in advance.
