Hello-

A little boy (age 6) was raped by an intruder at my son's school. I (as we all are) are devestated. My heart literally ached for him and his family. I do not know him by name, but I would like to offer some help. People keep saying his life is over ect... and I want to show him and his parents that he can and will lead a happy, productive life. I would like to contact a celebrity of some sort that the boy and his family might look up to who was sexually assaulted as a child to see if they would be willing to meet, write or speak with the family... if the family would approve. The only one I can think of is Oprah. Any other thoughts? Thank you in advance.

I have no intention to try to put this child on TV!!!! I should have clarified that!!! It is just helpful to see someone who was abused as a child grow into a normal, successful, happy individual. The boy IS receiving therapy and family support. I know this will not replace that.

Also, I have no idea WHO this child is and do not want to know. I would work with the school social worker to pass along info and then allow the parents to decide what they would like to do.

Wow, what a tough situation. Kudos to you for trying to help this little boy, it sounds like everyone else is just assuming (and we all know what assuming does) that he won't be able to deal with it. I think you've got a great idea, especially if you are able to find a male celebrity that was assaulted. I can't think of any, so I really hope that you are able to find someone. Also, I love the fact that everyone else who is answering is just assuming (hmmm...there's that word again), that you want this little boy to go on t.v. and bring his private business to the public.

I wouldn't want my rape or the rape of my child smeared all over the media. I think if you are just a good friend to the child and the family that would be good enough. If someone made my matters public like that I would............well. I'd rather not put it in writing. Let's just say I wouldn't exactly be happy with you anymore. While trying to do the right thing you may make matters a whole lot worse. Let it go. The schools and the police will lead them to counseling. Just be there for the family and the child.

Oprah is a good choice. Teri Hatcher was sexually abused as a child. Ozzy Osbourne was sexually abused as well. Maybe you could write Sharon a letter. She does all sorts of fundraisers and has a good heart.

God Bless that little boy. And Good luck!

Oh yeah, Oprah would be a great help. She would put the boy and his parents on TV and then ask the parents what sexual acts were done to their son.

My advice to you is to butt out. Stop trying to get into the kid's business. It isn't yours.

Stay out of it. If your kids have questions, answer them. Believe it or not, not everyone is comfortable going on TV to tell their abuse stories so Oprah can add to her millions.
Counselling is going to help this kid and his family, not Oprah, not Dr Phil, and not you.

This is a very private matter that the family must take care of. Let them handle it in their own way. Leave it alone.
