the word supposedly coined by Mary Poppins to make kids sound “precocious,” was actually invented by turn-of-the-century Scottish coal miners. It was used to request “the works” from prostitutes by men too shy to recite specific acts.

i didnt belive it but i looked it u and a bunch of pages actually came up with the same thing

My friend and her boyfriend have been dating for almost 3 years. She is 19 and he is 20. She has been really upset the past couple of weeks because she wants him to ask her to marry him. I try to tell her that maybe he is waiting until he is done with college, but she says she doesn't understand because being engaged doesn't mean you have to get married right away. He talks to her about wanting to start a family and get married to her, but he hasn't popped the question yet. She said everytime she brings it up, he says he's sick.

She's also been upset because for Valentines Day he didn't get her anything. She went over to his apartment the weekend prior to Valentines Day because his college is an hour and a half away. He knew they were celebrating Valentines Day then, but still didn't get her anything. She wanted to go out somewhere, but he didn't want to. He told her that he sent her a card in the mail, but he sent it to the wrong address. She has been very upset and depressed the past couple of weeks and it is hard seeing her like this.

What do you think he is waiting for? What is a good age to get engaged?

I have this question in my chemistry homework and am stuck. Water is a covalent compound--so it doesn't conduct electricity. But you're always hearing (well, not really) about how people electrocute themselves by taking a bath and the hairdryer falls in. Why are people electrocuted when water is a covalent compound that is nonconductive?

I'm so stumped--and I left my chem. textbook at school.

I love it when anti-Christians go straight for the jugular! (Plus she called me "Punkin"!)

Would you believe that both genealogies are correct? (Wow! That will REALLY stir up the hornet's nest, won't it?)

See, guys, when you pretend to know what you're talking about and then forget to do your research, sly guys like me can slip in and make you look ignorant. Here's your homework: study Jewish traditions. It might help you. (Or you could just read Eusebius, who answered this question about 1600 years ago.)

Moses gave a law that when a man dies without children, his brother takes the wife and has children in his brother's name. This creates a paradox. There is a LEGAL lineage, from father to son, and a BIOLOGICAL lineage from father to brother to son, and Jews were required to keep both.

Matthew gives the LEGAL lineage, necessary for inheritence and proof of messiahship.

Luke gives the BIOLOGICAL lineage (and Eusebius actually names the brothers!)

The guy I'm seeing is being very distant with me and cold. He doesn't call on his own. If I need something, he'll be there and if I call, he'll answer and talk for a few minutes but nothing like before when we first met. I figure we're in a bad stage of the relationship. Anyway, he works 2 jobs and I never get to have conversations about the relationship with him. He's always working or sleeping. Well on Valentines day, we went out and he didn't even call me the next day or the next day to say anything about it. I told him I needed to talk to him pronto. He didn't make the time to call so I called him Sunday morning and he was sleep. He was SO mad because I know he always sleeps in on Sun. but I was SO mad he hadn't called in 3 days. He told me that he was really mad that I woke him and he needs his space. We still have never talked about my issue. How long do I wait to find out if he really wants to break up. I'm brokenhearted and I love him dearly.

Does anyone know the aritst and name of the song with the words "Hey, Hey" in them? I know it's pretty vague, butt it's from a couple of years ago in the same kind of music like John Mayer. It had a light guitar riff and the chorus would start with the "Hey, Hey". The "Hey, Hey" part was said very quickly. It got some decent radio play, so if anyone knows that would be appreciated.

Personally, I have given up men-not worth the hurt and pain package, and am much more content. But I see so many woman who stay with cheaters, abusers, alcoholics, mean-spirited men, etc. How sad is that! What is up with them that they think so poorly of themselves to live with such toxic relations.

I've noticed that there is one common question on here, which is "What's the meaning of life?" I've answered this before but I thought I would just go ahead & explain more. To me, when we are born, we begin to learn. Now in this process, from infant to manhood(Or womanhood) we continue to learn about everything we do, what we say and how it effects another, etc... Our minds act like a computer itself, registering everything, even listing them(If your good.) in an order, so to speak. And as we age, we can relate to certain things being done by the following generation. (Hense the term, "Learning from our mistakes.") This means we have learned from our own lives, but by the memories of our minds. What we saw when we we're growing up. What we expireanced,(Good times, hard times, & even those dark times we all go through. You know what I'm talking about.) and other things of nature. Even on our deathbed, before we pass away, we go through all the deeds and things we've done in our lives.

I think that with a Dem in the White House and Democrat control of both houses of Congress, that the terrorists do not dare launch a massive attack such as 9/11. Should they do so then BOTH parties will agree that action must be taken.

The terrorist tactic of divide and conquor will have failed then. They will have to wait until the Republicans hold all the cards once more before they dare attack again.

This is just a thought that occurred to me, not necessarily a statement of fact. But it is something worth pondering. What do you think. I welcome answers here or in my e-mail.
