I've noticed that there is one common question on here, which is "What's the meaning of life?" I've answered this before but I thought I would just go ahead & explain more. To me, when we are born, we begin to learn. Now in this process, from infant to manhood(Or womanhood) we continue to learn about everything we do, what we say and how it effects another, etc... Our minds act like a computer itself, registering everything, even listing them(If your good.) in an order, so to speak. And as we age, we can relate to certain things being done by the following generation. (Hense the term, "Learning from our mistakes.") This means we have learned from our own lives, but by the memories of our minds. What we saw when we we're growing up. What we expireanced,(Good times, hard times, & even those dark times we all go through. You know what I'm talking about.) and other things of nature. Even on our deathbed, before we pass away, we go through all the deeds and things we've done in our lives.

To Ronins Point: If life has no meaning. Now to that, is rhetoric. Again, if you are learning something, even in life, then it holds meaning. And finding the meaning is finding the truth.

On Don's point; We share a common idea. But to love is to learn. Again making learning a central point, because without learning, there is no knowledge of love.

Name's Point: It is a joke. If a man dances around in a moo-moo, that is because he is a fool. And he's learned how to make a mockery of himself. They say "Life is what you make it." I ask who really is making it through, and what did you learn in the process?

Elle's point: Why is that, when we have the same goal in life? (I.E. money, comfortability, ect.)

Barbara's Point: Look how many keep making the same mistakes, over & over again, not learning from them? Our memories help us through stages of our lives. From the beginning to the end.

I ask this same question about the meaning of life once in a meditation. The answer came clear as a bell.

It said I have placed you here to learn the true meaning of Love. What ever it was that was answering then told me something that really set me back. It said that I felt the way I did about certain people because I did not understand the true meaning of love. I protested and said that I did my best to love all of the people who were deserving of love.

It replied "yes that is your misunderstanding. You see love as something that you dole out in tiny little portions here and there to people who you have judged to be worthy of it. This is not love at all, it is only judgment". This stopped me dead in my tracks. I suddenly realized that what it was saying to me was true. This realization brought me to tears. It went
on and told me, "You treat love as though there is some shortage of it. It is not something that you can run out of. The more love that you give, the more love that there is in the world. Its that simple. The only way that there can be a shortage of it is if you hoard it and keep it to yourself."

It went on to explain, that "this is what Jesus was trying to tell you when he asked you to turn the other cheek, to judge not and to love your neighbor. He made no exceptions in these things that he requested of you. Why are you making exceptions, and judging some as worthy of love and others as not? Jesus fully intended for you to apply this love that you are to all, in a universal manner without any judgment of any sort". By this time the tears Were flowing freely. I was crying because for the first time in my life I Understood what the message Jesus left for us in the bible actually meant.

This has become my truth. I can't say what yours is for sure, but I have a feeling that it is probably similar.

The meaning of life is whatever you want it to be. No one else can live your life for you. It does not matter what anyone says the meaning is. It only matters what you think the meaning is. If you think the meaning of life is to prance around in a Tutu all day long and sing Mary had a little lamb then that is the meaning of life for you.

Where's the meaning of life in your story? To learn, to experience and then in the end to look back on what we've done? Not good enough for me. There has to be more to it.

It's a nice idea, but the truth is that there is simply no meaning. If all human beings still lived in primitive tribes or we all lived in huge futuristic cities with education and love, it's all the same.

Someday all humans will be dead, I say within 1,000 years. Then everything any of us did, will be completely irrelevant.

That is great for you; however, my concepts while growing up were different than yours, maybe. So, each individual will have their own meanings of life. ?? I cannot seem to think it correct for us all to have the same 'meaning'. We don't have the same ideas, ideals, pasts, presents...my meaning of life will be different than yours is all I am saying. One can't lump-sum the meaning of life into a one-word phrase that fits all of us. Can't happen. The only word I can think of to fit all classes is : "LIVE"!

I've answered this one before, too....
But, I define the 'meaning of life' to be more closely related to ones greatest passions and desires. If a person's greatest love is to cook, then doing just that-- career-wise, seems like the greatest course of action. If they love acting, then they should at least try to make it onto the scene; they could learn the trade, become the best they can be and try to make that dream come true....

Or, in my case, I love writing, and I'm presently doing everything I can to realize that dream. I'm going to take some college classes on Creative Writing, Understanding Poetry, Literary English and an English 10/10 course, just to be sure I've honed myself as best I can, and continue to write my stories, revise them and make them everything I imagine them to be.

But, if someone's greatest desire is to be, say a stand-up comedian, but they never really try to get on that stage, for stage-fright, out of complacency, or what-have you, then that's where the mortal sin, Sloth, would come in. I don't believe even for an instant that who or whatever God is, demands that we be perfect, but I'm sure He/She/They DO want us to at least try. What if it really was that person's true calling to make a carreer out of making people laugh?... as you put it, their meaning, the reason they were put on Earth; and they missed out on that, because they just didn't want to try hard enough to make that wish become reality... now, that's what I call a sin.

If we're all put here for a reason... if my reason is to write stories and poetry that people might enjoy; if your reason were to ponder the wonderous questions and mysteries of the Physical Plane; or if someone else's reason for being on Earth is to cook french fries at McDonald's (hey, we can't all be well-renowned), so long as they enjoy what they do, and they do it the very best way they know how, then wouldn't that put meaning in their life, BECOME the meaning of their life? It sounds logical to me.

But, I do understand your explanation for the meaning of life, and it seems like you put a lot of thought into it before you asked the question, even if you only wanted other people's opinions on a subject you've already figured out for yourself.... at least you wanted to know what other people thought on the subject....

But now, you have my take on things as well. I hope you find it to be satisfactory.

The meaning of life is to love.

The reason for our being here is to chemically alter and fertilize the earth through defecation, littering, and dying/being buried/cremated.
