To win elections, and unfortunately, the same is probably true for democrats. As long as my rights remain intact, I don't care. For those who throw your vote away based on a candidates view on abortion, think about this...republicans were in the whitehouse, senate, and house. Conservatives were appointed to the supreme court, and Sandra Day O'Connor is gone. NOTHING was done during those years to get rid of abortion. NOTHING.

"How is a single mother with little or no resources supposed to provide for the child you think she should have?" She shouldn't have had the kid in the first place. I was raised by my grandfather rather than my mother because she was poor. Family members are key in situations like this. If you don't have any, then you're SOL. Second, slippery slope argument. You somehow think that just because conservatives disagree with welfare that they don't believe a child's life is sacred. This couldn't be farther from the truth. Finally, open your eyes, do you think every child in the world has welfare? Why don't you look outside your little bubble and fight for the rights of the children that are really suffering. I don't mean that kids here aren't, but our poor live like kings compared to the children born in say rural China or Africa. P.S. I mean support, I don't mean go buy a bumper sticker and slap it on your prius.

I find it funny that so many people that hate abortion are ignorant to the fact that nature herself takes part in abortion. Out of so many eggs to be fertilized in the female body, nature kills off most of those eggs, which is why on average a mother has one child when giving birth. Sometimes there's twins, but the point is, we aren't the only ones taking the lives of could-be children.

There are many anti-abortionists who also support the idea of a decent standard of life for all, and many that work towards that ideal in their personal lives.

I think the problem is that by pairing themselves mainly with the Repubs, they've hitched their wagon to a party that by and large does not care about social inequities and homeless starving people.

There are also plenty of wingnuts of all belief types, so lets try not to get too all-inclusive in our condemnations. It's a knife that can cut both ways.

It is shameful that we have one of the highest if not the highest levels of infant mortality in the developed world. It's higher than places we often look down on, like Cuba, Portugal, or Slovenia.

Yea, lets start funding a whole bunch more social programs since our welfare programs, entitlements and government handouts seem to work ever so well. I don't really need any of my money. I can just give it all to the government so they can dole it out.

We have to obey the law of nature! If we are supposed to have children, we should have or else we harm ourselves! Do you know that US is one of the best countries which have a best welfare policy! Government's budget is balanced. If you want increase welfare, what need to be dropped. Why don't you donate money to the organization that support those children like I do? Do not take this as an excuse to kill your children. Kill one person is sin, but kill your children is bigger sin! Are you willingly to pay more taxes so that these poor children will have a better life? Many tell me that they don't have any responsibility to those children - and that is why government took care of them!

You complain about the US spending money on a war to protect innocent people in the US & in Iraq - which in turn makes the United States a safe & secure place to live, yet you want the US to take responsibility for poverty & children dieing all over the world? What have you done to help?

They only seem to care about abortions in regards to "saving lives," yet they are most eager for the death penalty, they don't shed a tear for homeless children and children as casualties of war, and criticize anyone who has any sympathy for anyone else.

Are you saying that America should give more generously to these 3rd world countries? We already do. It's just not forced through taxation.
