All sorts of things. We can learn about their eating habits, their sleeping habits, whether they are solitary or social animals. We can also sometimes determine size based on length of gait and depth of print; whether an animal is or has been injured based on the arrangement of tracks and its gait. Check the trail around to determine whether the animal is a browser or a grazer. Many carnivores will actually browse or graze from time to time. The trail may also reveal territorial boundaries, such as scent marks, or tree scratchings, or rutted earth, or a combination of such things. Ask this question in the hunting section, and see how many answers you will get. Hunters rely on animal trails to learn about the animals they hunt.
