...and saying that more people are killed everyday in cars than on planes is not going to do the trick because I'm afraid of heights. I get a rush of fear and anxiety throughout my whole body when up high. Like, for example...I had to go up an elevator recently that had a glass window and when I turned to look out the window behind me, I had to grab ahold of the rail and that fear ran up and down my body. It's over as soon as I get off the elevator. In a mall, I can't walk near the rail which overlooks the lower level from the upper levels. If I get near them it throws my equilibrium off so bad that it makes me sway. Anybody else have that fear of heights ???

What is going on in America? It is amazing and disturbing, to ride on a road and see street signs that are printed not only in English, but in other languages as well. What's more, even legal documents are now being written in foreign languages. How unnerving to walk down an American street and not understand what people are talking about. Maybe this isn't America. I feel like a stranger in my own land. Why don't they learn to speak English?

You'd probably think this is someone who shares your views on America today with all the people from different countries.

Actually this is expressed by Benjamin Franklin in the 1750s and he is talking about the German, Polish, Italian and Dutch.

For those who give a hard time to today's immigrants: Most likely your people weren't welcome in this country, but they came here for better opportunities. Even if they wouldn't have a great life, they'd give their future generations a chance to succeed.

Ok at lst god had nothing...then he decided to create humans n earth of out nothing defyin all physics laws...then he died for our sins...then he says be good to go to heaven...then when we go do good we go heaven...then we stay with god in heaven....

Whats the whole point? Why must we be even created? U know there is no motive at the end of the day...why humans? earth? Heaven?

If his final aim to see us all in heaven becuz god is lonely then he could have straight away created some good humans in heaven straight away....there is something missing about god if he even existed which is not addressed in christianity or other religions...

I have a new car, I think the dipstick is the wrong length.

When the car was new, driven less than 50 miles, it showed as being overfilled. I had it drained to bring it down to the right level.

Just had an oil+filter change, saw the tech put in exactly the right amount of oil (from quart containers), and the dipstick shows it as being overfilled.

The one explanation that makes sense is that the dipstick is the wrong length, which makes it read as overfilled when it is actually at the proper level. Thinking: I can't imagine the factory would overfill the engine. I don't know of a reason why it would show as overfilled at this point, given that it was just filled with the correct amount of oil.

Does my thinking make sense? Should I get the dipstick shortened? What would you do?

I have a 5 year old cousin who was granted a medical visa last Aug. Both her and her mother were able to come to the US. She will be needing a lot of treatment and will need to go back before her visa expire. Is there any way for her to return, but this time around, with her father, mother, and younger brother? Is there any way for her to extend her visa for longer than 1 year so that she can go to school. She is currently receiving free medical treatment from a major hospital in California. She has multiple tumors and her treated will last for more than 10 years. Is there any way to have her family united in the US until her treatment is over? Is there any way for her to go to school in the US. There is no way for her to have her treatments here and then go back to Vietnam to go to school. Her treatments are year round. Please help.

My 5-year-old recently started to lie to me about little things, like if he snuck a cookie, took something away from his little brother, etc. I tell him that he will get into more trouble if he does not tell me the truth, but he continues to tell little white lies. does anyone know anything about the surgery to fix acid reflux (where they take part of your upper stomach and wrap it around your esophagus), or has anyone had it done?

my fiance is having this surgery, and i'm worried... mostly just because of the word "surgery" and the sharp objects involved.. am i overreacting?

not saying i don't want him to have it. i do. but it's a scary prospect for me.

I am interested in buying a house here in Los Angeles Ca.
Since there is no one interested right now I want to have the option to purchase secured, for say 6 months. The seller wants to sell it to me but I just want to have an agreement that I can buy it at a fixed price within a time.
I have a form that is simple and says the above option but is it legal? Can someone else swoop in and buy it first even though I have this signed by the seller?
If it is legal, do I also have to get it notorized or recorded with the city to make it binding?
