I've always tried to be a spiritual person, but then I heard someone equate that with a belief in God. Whereas I've thought of it as being sort of calm, contemplative, and in balance.

What do you think? Is spirituality a state of mind or a belief about supernaturalism?

I have a 8-9 week old yorkshire terrier puppy who hates being alone. It has plenty of room to move around. All he does is yelp and whimper for ever and we have very pricky neighbors who complain about my pup. There is a period of 4 to 6 hours where it will be alone 3 days of the week. ]Is this bad? Just to get it to go to sleep in the area i have to be with it for 45 minutes to an Hour then as slick as i can be put him in his area. [a caged area where he has plenty of room to play around with food and water and an area for him to relieve himself.] PLEASE HELP ME! I am very desperate and nervous because tomorrow is going to be his first day alone.

Throughout my whole life I get the hiccups all the time. Even befor I was born my mom said that she felt me hiccuping in the womb many times. And I don't get soft, dainty hiccups. No mine are those gigantic convultions that make me croak if my mouth is open when I hiccup. By the end of the day I am just exhausted. And I know all the remidies, I feel like I could write a whole book with all the suggestions I get. Sometimes they work, but many times they don't and even if they do work, the hiccups usually come back later that day. This happens at least once a week, if not more. Is anything wrong with me or is this just something that happens to some people and I have to live with it?

So, right now I am trying to recover from a break up that is breaking my heart. I feel so alone and desire the love and the love that I gave to the man that I was with. But that brings me to just trying to make myself a better person in general. I am trying to think positively about this situation and use it for the best.

So, one of the things that I have contemplated before getting back with my ex or trying to move on with someone else is getting to know who I truly am.

How does one get to know who he/she truly is? Especially, I feel that I try to learn and my views begin to change (not that I am fickle, but I know that I or anyone can be wrong about different things and that there is a gray area).

So really? What makes a person who they truly are even though a person changes and is so influenced by their environment and also genetics?

My ex and I broke up on November 12th, which of course is horrible timing with the holidays being right around the corner! Anyway, this breakup has been very hard on me because he and I were planning to get engaged over the holidays. We were only together for 6 months but that was long enough for us to fall in love and believe we were soulmates. But towards the end, we fought a lot and several red flags kept showing up, so when we broke up it was mutual, and amicable. Two weeks after we broke up I called him and the conversation went ok, and he wasn't opposed to the idea of being friends when I asked him. When I was about to hang up, I asked when he wanted to talk again, and he said a week later. So I called him a week later but he never called me back. I have since called and emailed him several times (not every day but about once a week) and he hasn't picked up the phone or returned my messages even once.

...and if so, what kind(s) of things do you collect like that? Do you use them as well?

For fun, I have a couple of cool and colorful dial Telephones that I use in spare rooms, and a old 8 track player and some tapes I use to amuse friends, and a old Atari game system I play for kicks because of it's primitive look and a huge LED watch. All of this stuff is courtesy of garage sales, and I dont spend too much as the cheap price is part of the fun!

Anybody else collect the occasional obsolete tech item for amusment purposes?

I have been reading "The History of Chritianity" by Paul L. Jonson. He says that many Christians just have a popular (not deep, or educated) understanding of their own faith. Harper's Magazine states: "Three quarters of Americans believe the Bible teaches that “God helps those who help themselves.” That is, three out of four Americans believe that this uber-American idea, a notion at the core of our current individualist politics and culture, which was in fact uttered by Ben Franklin....". Are Christians just repeating what they hear in the pulpit?

my girl friend broke up with me because I called her saying this isn't going to workout if she doesn't call me wich she never does, and she needs to stop hanging around guys more than she does with me, but I still love her and I havnt told her that, she thinks she isn't ready for a relationship and I want her back but I've already called like a wuss trying to work things out but the next day I told her I understand and lets be friends, someone tell me how to get her back. There is this girl that I have known for a while now. She moved across the state to get away from her boyfriend, and she claims she wasnt "happy" with him. As time progressed we both started to like eachother and stuff happened between us. She tells me right to my face that she likes me but she is in "love" with her ex still. Things like "I want you AND him" and "I like you but I am in love him..I wish I could just keep you around on the side" come up in our conversations. We tried the friends with benefits thing but it didnt seem to work out with her, she always felt guilty? Yet within the next few days we are back doing stuff again. Almost all my friends are saying get out but I have no one else that i'm interested in? Is there still hope...should I just take things as they come? or back out before I get hurt?

America could have helped by documenting and presenting to the U.N. the hundreds of thousands of stories of barbarism that have occured there after 1980 when that country last had democratic elections.
