My answer is this. They aren't. I've seen many people, and I'd say the majority of the good-looking people out there are male(I am not gay). The only reason this goes unnoticed is because women, when they are more mature, tend to go for smart, funny, or rich men, which makes good looks matter no longer. With women, however, looks always matter throughout their whole lives as far as finding a mate because that's usually all they have. Not to be mean to women, but this is true. This is caused by women subconciously not wanting to be a threat to men (men don't want them to be a threat either) so they make themselves "stupid." A great example is cheerleaders. All people can be smart if they want, but some people decide not to be. Women do this very often. Also, women have never been hunters. Men are the hunters. Women take care of the house stuff, so they don't need to be rich or smart if they don't want to anyway. Lastly, men tend to pay more attention to looks, and women tend to pay more attention to attention. In a relationship, the male and female exchange 2 currencies, being attention and sex. the woman's currency to recieve attention is giving sex, and the man's currency to receive sex is giving attention. Both must be given sparingly, though, or one of the two people (whichever gives too generously) will become a doormat and not receive anything in return for spending his/her "currency."

Are there reasons specific to women as to why they're beautiful? Sure! Like there are reasons men are beautiful. For some people, women are beautiful because of their bodies in ways that are different from men. Some people it's because of the ways women and men can be the same; long beautiful hair, pretty eyes, shapely legs, cute butt, etc. (all of these things can be said in all honesty about 'beautiful' people of either gender).
