Ok, I am 15, she is 16. We have known each oter for about 2 months or so and we have become very good friends. People say she likes me and flirts with me but is she just the touchy feely type? She hugs me alot and will sit on my lap. We link arms walking together and she will lean on me sometimes too (me against a wall, her leaning back on me). She doesn't do this with other people. Does she like me? I like her. What should I do?

I am puzzled - I have seen other answers to this question which say that it is the 'tilt', and I see that there is less energy reaching the northern hemisphere in Winter in total because of the angles. My question though is not about why Summer is hotter than Winter, it is about how hot the Sun feels. When the Sun is in the sky in Summer it feels hot (and burns !), whilst in Winter it does not feel so hot (even though the Sun can be at the same angle in the sky, say 10am in Summer the Sun is at the same height in the sky as at 12 o'clock in Winter). It can't just be the ambient air temperature - I can see that in Winter the air would be colder overall - the question is about radiant heat from the Sun directly; the Sun seems to be colder in Winter. I don't know why - it's the same distance away, it's at the same angle in the sky (though at different times of day).... what's the answer ?

If I mail them today, they won't arrive till Tuesday, Jan 2nd... or I could drive to City Hall to drop them off. Do they normally send a receipt indicating the "received date"? or how does anyone know when they were received?

I was asked this question, without any elaboration, by a college professor. Without thinking I blurted out "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance." While it is a great book I have to question whether it is the most "important" book I've ever read. It certainly changed my life and how I looked at the world, but IMPORTANT?

Looking back, I have to say now that the most IMPORTANT book I've ever read has to be the Stephen Mitchell translation of "Tao te Ching." While it technically may be a religious book, and I am not a religious person by any means, it went a very long way in transforming my way of thinking about the world around me while I was in high school.

PS. I purposely did not define IMPORTANT. You decide what it means to you. I also exclude the Bible so I don't get 50 of the same answers.

I have had an xbox360 for almost 2 months now and never had a problem playing it, until Christmas day that is! I was given (or left from Santa depending how old you are) 4 new games. I loaded one into my machine and within 2 minutes it had turned off and refused to turn back on. It's now been taken away by couriers and won't be returned from Microsoft for 15 working days!

I remeber saying to my mum 'It's sod's law isn't it!'. Do you believe in stuff like that or is it just a coincidence?

Recently I dropped a fifty pence piece in the kitchen and it landed on the floor and rolled under a crack in the cupboard - not if I tried 1000 times could I get that to happen again. Do you believe there are strange things going on? Surely things that are nigh on impossible to happen but do so must have happened to you too?

We have a 7year old and a 3 year old. We choose not to use sitters mostly because of our own comfort level. Our kids adore my Mom and going to her house. She is widowed and healthy yet she doesn't have much of a social life. She rarely watches our kids and when she does she chooses the times and durations. Usually it's a last minute, afternoon time.....that doesn't allow my husband and I to make very good plans.
She knows that we are tired and desperate for time alone and she uses that as a control tool.
After she sits with our kids she reminds us of how nice it was for her to do us a favor.
I love my Mom but I don't understand why she is behaving this way. I rarely ask her to watch the kids because I hate hearing her say no. That's why I'm confused as to why she doesn't offer more often. She keeps our kids for a few hours a month. Our three year old still doesn't talk well so we aren't comfortable leaving her alone with anyone and we don't have other choices.

As recent as this month, a NY Post reporter (R. Johnson) indicated that he sighted Vincent D'Onofrio shopping and when asked a question, Vincent said he was shopping for his wife. The reported stated that he was unaware that Vincent's was supposed to be divorced, since he insinuated that he was still married and wonder if Vincent was not being truthful with him. That does not sound like Vincent's personality, he seems to be very honest when he does interviews and other things. So that's why I wanted to know if he has reunited with Carin Van Der Donk, after all they have a beautiful young 6 year old son.

A friend of mine was forced by his wife to go out to eat at a Chinese restaurant with other people. He HATES Chinese food. He was quite disgruntled about it and tried to hide it, but must have lost it because halfway through the dinner, he said to everyone, "I wonder what kind of "CHICKEN" this is!!!?

How does one even react to this?

no desires and no wants, that leads to no feelings. Keeps your mind and thoughts in nothingness or emptyness through meditation. If you do karma then you are going to go through emotions, feelings, desires and wants. Giving up all these brings no thoughts in your mind and through meditaion you can achieve oneness.
So then what about Karma. Don't we have to do karma to live in this world? Even the Sadhus have to have desire to get up in the morning and eat something to satisfy hunger! How can you live life without doing karma and that leads to desire and feelings. Does that mean that if you follow theory of Buddha means you don't do anything and just sit at one place and do meditation in order to achieve Nirvana, or there is other way to achieve the same through by living the life at your fullest with happiness and considerable wants and desire!
