Has anyone lived through the heartbreak of watching your best friend get married?

i'm 30 & she's 31 and after 5 years of long distance, her bf decided to close the gap and propose to her. we've both developed an attraction to each other over the past year, but have maintained very clear respectful boundaries. but, as soon as she told me that the wedding date had been confirmed (i just came back from a long vacation and found out it's in 3 days...), i heard most succinctly the sound of my heart turning into glass and shattering into countless prickly shards.

while i feel immensely sad, i do not have the right to be heart broken and selfish. at the same time, i feel really happy for her because i know her fiance will take very good care of her. and in the end, their happiness together is most important. i want to support her but going to the wedding is gonna hurt me a lot :(

i feel like i'm playing julia roberts in "My Best Friend's Wedding"!

I was working in Delhi ( in development sector). I worked almost 12 years. Now I have joined in an NGO in Orissa in middle level management. Though I have lots of exposure, yet I feel I must be professionally qualified too to progress in the career.By doing a course in social work will certainly help me. Is there any institute in north india that provides certificate course in social work in correspondence? I will be happy to receive the inmformation.

Especially in the context of religion where people get very fanatical very quickly. Abuse and direct violent attacks can occur over something as minor as a few words on a page.
TO attack and kill someone because of a particular belief system has been a problem for a very long time.
Is this a form of mental illness, a deranged mind trying to
make sense of the non-sensical?

ok im have a aoptek camara anevery thing was goin fime untill one time i unpluged it from my computer to get photos and after that,on my camara screen the LCD 2.4 wont show when i wanna flim something or take a picture nuttin comes up its stays black,nuttin comes on that LCD screen or the lil screen,So can some one help me make it come on da screen again,Oh yeah and when i try to upload pictures on my pic its says that this cable is not reconized, and i dont know what to Doooooooo

Women gets pregnant after only dating a guy for 2months. She then ends the relationship. She has an abortion. Does the father really need to know?

Surely this would only cause problems, if the women has made her mind up.

I mean instead of crying or bashing on the west that the west misunderstand islam and nobody know islam. isn't the action more speaking than talking? why not speak loudly to fanatics and tell them "HEY STOP KILLING PEOPLE AND SPEAKING IN THE NAME OF ALLAH". and made actions to stop fanatics.

OK for your knowledge, the violence came out of or under Islam made me really re-think about islam then after lots of research I decided to leave it forever. and I m sure many more people did the same and I know some, I have met them.
can't we stop hating each other based on Allah or God, can't we love each other? by the way, I believe war for interests are mUCH BETTER than war for allah or God, because interests can be met and we are done, both are bad though.

Where can I find the complete works of William Shakespeare . . .

. . . in one portable volume? By portable I mean the condensed onion-skin style pages (two column), unabridged, also soft-cover. Think bible. Leather-bound would be cool but isn't important. Something that I could carry around in a messenger type bag with maybe another book, paper/pens, etc. Something less bulky and heavy than the encyclopedia size books. Any help is appreciated. :)

marriage, you are victim of domestic violence and get in prison along with your parents. If you dont marry and fell in live in relationship out of compulsion because your partner want to know how you would actually perform once married. Now todays news paper report says even women in Live in can demand from men the maintainance before parting ways. A friend and I had an on and off kind of friendship last semester, but we ended the semester on good terms. I wrote her a Christmas card and gave it to her. She thanked me, we said goodbye for the holidays, then we went home. Later on, on Myspace (yes, I know Myspace can be a piece of worthless garbage sometimes!), she posted a "Merry Christmas" icon to many of her friends, but didn't include me. That hurt me, because I felt left out, and she didn't even acknowedge or tell me Merry Christmas, but she did to many people that she didn't even talk to. If she couldn't even post a lousy icon on my page and if I sent her a Christmas card... then something's not right here.

The thing is, I'm not sure if I should make a big deal out of this--should I talk to her and tell her how I feel, or would I come on as a whiner/somebody who seems pathetic? I don't want to overreact, but I do feel excluded somehow. I, however, think communication is important in a friendship.

Thoughts? Thanks!
