I'm about to buy the D80 (felt great in the store) after being advised on answers to spend the money on lenses than the body. A friend is a Canon user and recommended the following range - what would be the equivalent or recommended Nikon lenses you suggest?
He has the: 10-22mm EFS, the 24-70mm f2.8L, and the 70-200 IS F2.8L.

My main need is a good portrait lens but I travel a lot so I need more than that. I saw some comments on the 18-200 VR as well...I'm a bit confused so if anyone has some sage advice please dole it over. I'm loving Search answers, thanks Yahoo!

I have a friend who lets her young children answer the telephone. The youngest is 4 the other 7. When they answer they like to play around before they give their parents the phone. These children know me well. Yesterday when I called the 7 year old answered, she knew it was me, but she kept saying my name over and over. I finally just hung up. I am very annoyed by this; so much that I don't want to call anymore. I have mentioned this subject in a general way to the parents but they did not pick up on the hint. I should also add that these children are not very disciplined. Anyone have any feelings on this subject?

When you go to the polls to vote, cast your vote for the candidates you support.
For the elected offices and candidates that you are less certain about, favor the female candidates.
Rethink the criteria you consider when casting your vote.
Balancing the amount of power and knowledge and resources in the world in a fair way is a necessary goal. The world is far from being as fair as it can be. Seriously harmful imbalances between different groups of people still exist. Some voices are not being heard. Human potential, undefined.
The most glaring disparity is that between the governing power and authority men wield in the world – and the governing power and authority women wield.
Fortunately, most countries today are democratic and an increasing percentage of those who get elected to public office are women. Yet we still find that men dominate elected offices– even in the United States, which claims to stand on a foundation of equality, (US Congressional representation by women hovers near 15%)

 

It is critically important to ensure that social progress keeps pace with the technological progress we are witnessing.  Equalizing the percentages of men and women in elected offices will help to resolve all of our most pressing issues.

Answer the following question: How can a room full of legislators that are 85% male resolve an issue like abortion? I consider it fact that such a resolution cannot be possible until the percentage of males and females in such a room equals the percentage of males and females that it takes to create such an issue.

I believe that you will find the same is true for every social issue we face, and we face many.

Make the world a fairer place.

 Resolve abortion, gridlock, disease, hunger, hate crimes, homelessness, war.

Accept democracy in practice, not in theory alone.

I get a lot of girls and hot ones at that... but there's this woman i work with (she's married an has 2 kids) and she's not the best looking and she has an ok personality... but i find her extremely sexy. I kept trying to hit on her or ask her out but she'd always reply "oh that's not necessary" or "my husband blah blah"... a girl has never driven me this crazy before. When im talking to her i think of rushing her and ******* her on her desk. I'm used to getting most of the women i want, but i've never been rejected this many times before. I'd trade everything i have for her... and im rich!
btw im 19 years old and she's in her mid 30's.

I really don't know...recently I've gotten closer to this girl I've known for a while. Lately she's been doing things that she hasn't done with me before. She's been poking me like nothing else...at random times (during class when she passes by me, when Im in the same car as her, etc), she's been hitting me with things (scarf) and tries to trip me occasionally. Sometimes I find myself having a staring contest with her...

Apparently I'm starting to like her, cause I can't stop thinking of her and be with her every other moment...(ech...this really does not sound like me...:p)

But anyway, Im having a hard time figuring out if she likes me like a friend or likes me more than that.
