I asked previously whether I should give money or presents to my 15 year old nephew and 13year old niece. The overwhelming majority said money. Now I have another quandry - how much should I give? What would be a reasonable (but not over generous) amount? I suppose I should also give them the same amount?

Yep. Its about this 200 year thing of freeing the slaves.

But, as far as I can see, slavery was around since the Egyptians, 7 millennia ago. It was still around during every empire the world has ever seen.

Then the Brits made an empire, profited – like every other empire and nearly all countries – through slavery.

The only difference was that the British middle class became wealthy and politically vocal and chose to abolish slavery throughout the empire and to pressure its trading partners to do the same.

They were the first people to do it…..ever!

Is this celebration more of a thank you to the British middle class rather than a sorry for 10,000 years of a legal and legitimate trade?

i have a very very very sensitive belly button. I cant bear clothes to touch it and my husband thinks its funny to touch it coz he knows it irritates me. I even sleep on my front in fear that he might touch it by accident and when it is touched i cringe. I cant say how awful it makes me feel....what can i do? Does anyone else have this feeling?

We are friends with a man and his wife - get together for beers occasionally. His wife keeps our 8 mth old about once a week-sometimes overnight (they call us and ask for her). They refer to themselves as Mamaw and Papaw to her. Any ideas for what we can get them for xmas from our daughter? One present for both or seperate gifts? We have @$50 to spend on them.

Also - we are good friends with another couple who are our neighbors. Need an idea for what to give them from us and the kids. Prefer to keep the $50 gift limit. They have kids my age and 9 grandkids I think who all live out of town. They spend a lot of time with our 6 & 9 year olds. I have ideas for her but not for him yet. They are 'young' grandparents

Hi, can anyone recommend a good family holiday for june/july 2007. I have just one child who is five years old and my emphasis is on an apartment that has a very good childrens club as he likes plenty of activity. I have been away over the last three years but most places only operate clubs for an hour in the morning and another hour in the evening. I was planning to host my own web server on my computer. But then I had this incident where I was downloading from the torrent network. And I turned my PC on for 4 days straight I think.... And then on the last day, it was at 90% of the whole downloading process when suddenly my computer hanged. When I restarted my PC... I cannot boot anymore. So I reformatted it and then it started out cleanly. But then... All of what I have downloaded(8.57GB!!!) was erased!!!! So, I was traughmatized of that incident so I asked this question. Now back to the question, up to how many days can the Hard Disk be turned on before shutting it off to make it rest?

Yesterday, during the Titans-Giants game, Mathias Kiwanuka had Vince Young wrapped up, with two arms around him, and was driving Young backwards.
In order to avoid a "roughing the passer" call, and in thinking Young threw the ball, Kiwinuka let Young go.
And he went! 20 yards to set up the tying TD and ultimately went on to win the game.
I think the roughing the passer thing is a little out of control, but wasnt Young "in the grasp"?? How could the ref let that one go if the rule still exists??
