I asked previously whether I should give money or presents to my 15 year old nephew and 13year old niece. The overwhelming majority said money. Now I have another quandry - how much should I give? What would be a reasonable (but not over generous) amount? I suppose I should also give them the same amount?

Trying to work out my Christmas budget.

I think that you should give them a gift - it means more, but if they dont like it then money would be better. Ask their parents and see what they want or what you could get. Again i would say stick to a present instead of money but if you do give them money i would say a minimum of 20 pounds coz things are more expensive now. But some ideas for gifts - for the girl maybe a shirt or makeup or something - for the boy a videogame, cd, dvd. Thats what i would want at that age and my sis usually got clothes at that age and liked them.

How much would you have spent if you were buying them a present - go for a similar amount . For a nephew & neice, I'd say £20 - £25 each is enough to get someting cool, they will probably put it together with other money they get and go out and buy clothes, cd's etc, £20 is enough to get something by itself, or can be pooled together to buy one big thing.

ok if your giveing money it must be the same amount to each but the best way to do it is ask there parents

or think what would they spend it on and go for a mid priced item

i give my nephew and nieces £40 each or take them out for the day shopping after x-mas give them a card with 1 shopping date with you and your wallet (and a budget)

that way you can do it after x-mas when you have money and it will give the parents a day of from them when you take then for the afternoon

Give what you think is sensible and an amount that you are happy to be expected to give time and time again and to both.
To some £40 is a massive amount to give, to others it is just pocket change. Personally, I'd go for £20 each.

For a neice and nephew? $25-$50 each if you have it in your budget. They will be getting plenty of other presents probably. I have a 13 yr old who is wanting spending money for xmas. She loves to shop and at that age they like to pick out their own stuff.

I'm 17 and I've always gotten about £10 from my aunts and uncles for Christmas. Maybe £20, if they could afford it. More often than not, I get a tenner.

Same amount for them both's about right, unless you want to cause an argument.

Kids have that much stuff theses days, when you pass over £10-20, 30 whatever, they wont be bothered, and u will think mmm marverlous. Get them some kind of novelty fun present for about £10 each and they probally mess about with it for ages.

What are they used to? In my family it's standard to give £10 for presents because there is a lot of us. So that is what I would say but on the other hand these kids might be used to more or you might want to give them more.

A reasonable amount depends on which part of the Uk you live in...If London the cost of living is higher so you would give more..say £20..
